Full-time: Holland 1 Russia 3. Guus Hidink's men march on, while the Dutch have failed to reproduce the form which got them to this point. A fantastic game, with a deserved winner.

30 - Desperation: Van der Vaart goes for goal from a 30-yard free-kick and sends it well wide. With so many men having pushed forward surely he should have dinked a ball into the box and let his team-mates fight for it.

26 - GOAL: Holland 1 Russia 3. Game over. Holland fail to deal with a long throw and Arshavin gets in one-on-one with Van der Sar. From a tight angle he blasts goalwards, and a slight deflection off Heitinga takes the ball through the legs of Van der Sar.

Sub: Payluchenko comes off to be replaced by Sychev. Anyone expecting Hiddink to throw on a defender has been proven wrong. Fight fire with fire - I like it.

24 - Last push: Have Holland got what it takes to recover again. They have been second best for most of the evening, but have previously proven how capable they are.

22 - GOAL: Holland 1 Russia 2. Deserved lead for Russia. Arshavin lifts a pin-point cross over the head of Van der Sar and Torbinski is on hand to slide home at the back post. Cue hysterical celebrations among those in white. Can they hold on this time?

21 - Communicate: Almost a bizarre mix up between Alkinfeev and Ignashevich. The keeper comes out to clean up a long ball, but his almost beaten by a back-header from his centre-half.

19 - All Russia: Once again it is Hiddink's men who take the upper hand. Zyryanov pulls a ball back into an empty six-yard box. The ball does run through to Pavlyuchenko but he gets his shot all wrong and blazes over the bar. Had Russia had someone close in on goal, they would have had a tap in.

18 - Shout: Zhirkov takes a tumble in the box and looks longingly at the referee. However, he is told to get on his feet. Looking at it again, Heitinga did touch him and is perhaps fortunate to get away with it.

17 - Crowded out: Bilyaletdinov bursts into the box down the right, but is ushered away from goal by a combination of Ooijer and Mathijsen.

Second-half: Here we go again. Holland get the action underway once more.

Half-time: Holland 1 Russia 1. We are no nearer knowing who will make the semi-finals.

15 - Frenetic: It's been a pulsating game, but we are now just 15 minutes away from the lottery of a penalty shootout. Unless someone can find a winner from somewhere.

11 - Clean hit: Kolodin has already shown what he can do from distance and sends a 30-yard free-kick skidding past the post. He really has a hammer of a right foot and has had Van der Sar worried on more than one occasion.

9 - Should score: Great play by Arshavin to get to the dead-ball line before pulling the ball back to Torbinski. The midfielder has no-one near him but plants his shot straight at Van der Sar. Will Russia get a better chance?

8 - Never threatened: Afellay does well to create room for a shot but scuffs it harmlessly wide. Some of the Dutch shooting has been less than impressive, but they managed to find a goal when they needed it most.

7 - Great strike: Pavlyuchenko cuts inside from the left wing and sends a fabulous effort crashing off the top of the crossbar. Van der Sar was well beaten and the striker is desperately unlucky.

6 - Chance: Arshavin has Ooijer beating a hasty retreat towards his own goal, but once in range sends a disappointing attempt over the bar. He was trying to find the top corner, but got nowhere near.

5 - Mis-control: Not we are used to seeing from Zhrikov as he touches the ball with both feet as he tries to send over a cross and only manages to present Holland with a goal-kick.

4 - Well over: Van Nistelrooy, who is hardly renowned for his long-range goals, sends a curling, dipping effort narrowly over. There are holes appearing in the Dutch defence which will worry Hiddink.

3 - Gambled: Safe hands from Van der Sar as he juggles the ball before snatching it to his chest. Torbinski was waiting to pounce so it was vital that he gathered it in.

1 - End-to-end: Zyryanov threatens to unlock the Dutch defence at one end, while Sneijder, again, forces Alkinfeev into a comfortable save down the other. I hate to be pessimistic but I think we may be on for penalties here tonight. Hopefully I will be proved wrong.

Kick-off: Russia get us started.

Respect: For Karmi and Diane who have queried why the Dutch are wearing black armbands - it is is memory of Khalid Boulahrouz's prematurely born daughter who unfortunately passed away this week.

Full-time: Holland 1 Russia 1. We go to extra-time. How much will each side gamble now, or are we set for a second shootout in the space of two days?

92 - Strange: Kolodin makes a rash challenge on Sneijder and is shown a secoond yellow card. Then, the referee goes over to consult his linesman and reverses the decision. We stay at 11-a-side.

Two minutes of stoppage time to be played.

90 - Deflated: Russia need to pick themselves up, the game is far from over yet and they have done enough to prove that they can win this.

88 - Settled: Holland have resorted to getting men back behind the ball and extra-time now looks a formality. Are we in for a further 30 minutes or can someone become a hero?

86 - GOAL: Holland 1 Russia 1. Late drama as Ruud van Nistelrooy meets a brilliant delivery from Sneijder to glance a header past a stranded Alkinfeev. Hard on the Russians who have battled so bravely, but the Dutch have threatened more of late.

85 - Desperate: Defending and attacking, as Holland now resort to shooting on sight and Russia throw bodies in the way of anything which threatens their goal.

82 - Too much: Russia try to walk the ball in. Zhirkov chooses to square instead of go for goal and Torbinski is crowded out in the middle. Awful defending by the Dutch created the opening and they are fortunate to still be in the game.

Sub: Torbinski comes on in place of the hard-working Saenko.

80 - Well hit: Sneijder puts everything into an effort from distance, only to see it dip narrowly over the bar. Holland have begun to push more men forward but are yet to really test Alkinfeev.

79 - Off the bar: Semak gets away from Heitinga down the left and his cross-shot clips the top of the bar on it's way out of play. It never looked like dropping in, but it would have been interesting had it bounced back into play.

77 - Counter: Russia go straight up the other end and, but for the alertness of Van der Sar, would have got Pavlyuchenko in again. The striker is continuously being left in space and has already proved what he is capable of.

77 - Bouncing: Van der Vaart with a clean striker from 25-yards which dips in front of Alkinfeev, but the keepr gets his body well behind it.

76 - Never close: Afellay lays on a shooting chance for Sneijder, but the Real Madrid midfielder drags his effort horribly wide. It's just not happening for Holland at the moment.

74 - Tumble: Afellay shows quick feet to escape from Saenko, but as soon as he feels a touch he hits the deck. He rightly gets nothing for his theatrics and would do better to stay on his feet and try and help the Dutch cause.

72 - Well over: Van Persie gets his effort all wrong as he sends the set-piece over the bar. He tried to place it over the wall, when from that distance he would have been better off putting his foot through it.

Booked: Kolodin is cautioned for hauling down Van Nistelrooy. Right on the edge of the box, great chance for the Dutch.

70 - In again: Aniukov, the right-back, flies forward and gets away a decent attempt on goal from a tight angle. Van der Sar easily saves, but the Russians look dangerous every time they go forward.

Sub: Bilyaletdinov comes on in place of Semshov.

68 - Crucial: De Jong gets in an important block to prevent the unmarker Pavlyuchenko from getting another sight of goal.

67 - Blood break: Heitinga is spilling blood for the cause, but with Van Basten having made three changes he needs to be patched up as soon as possible.

66 - No room: Holland knock the ball around on the edge of the box, but are unable to find a way through a resolute Russian back-line. Sneijder, Afellay and Van der Vaart all try to blast their way through, with little success.

65 - Flap: Alkinfeev looks far from assured as he comes to claim a corner and gets nowhere near it. He is relieved to see Van Persie knock his header wide as he was in no-man's land.

63 - Off balance: Russia continue to push forward, the best way to defend is attack and all that, and look more likely to find a second than Holland do of grabbing an equaliser. On this occasion Pavlyuchenko fires a volley well wide from a ridiculous angle.

Sub: Engelaar makes way for Afellay. A more attacking option, and has allowed Sneijder to come inside off the left wing.

61 - Clever: Van der Vaart spots Alkinfeev off his line and tries to lift a lofted effort over his head. He fails to get enough height on the effort though and the keeper takes it easily.

60 - Did well: Mathijsen puts in a fine challege on Arshavin, which not only stops the Russian in his tracks, but manages to keep the ball in play and allow the defender to launch an attack.

58 - Almost two: Holland are wobbling and Saenko breezes past a non-existent challenge from Van Bronckhurst before sending a low effort past the post. Russia, unsurprisingly, have been bouyed by the goal and aren't sitting on the lead. Well, not yet anyway.

56 - GOAL: Holland 0 Russia 1. Semak finds room on the left, where Heitinga should be, whips over a cross and Pavlyuchenko volleys home. Game on! Hiddink gets one over on Van Basten. Can the Dutch recover?

56 - Tight angle: Arshavin goes for goal with a free-kick on the right of the goal, but sends it narrowly wide.

Booked: Van Persie is cautioned for catching Zyryanov with a flailing arm. Didn't look intentional, but his name is taken regardless.

Sub: Boulahrouz, who must have plenty on his mind at the moment and showed great courage to start the game, makes way for Heitinga.

53 - Scappy: Holland bundle their way forward, but without ever having the ball under control the move fizzles out.

52 - Almost in: Arshavin is almost freed in space behind the Dutch reaguard. However, Mathijsen sticks out a leg and intercepts the attempted threaded pass.

Booked: Boulahrouz is the first man to see yellow for a clumsy tackle.

Van Persie support: Gareth sees the substitute, along with Van der Vaart, getting on the scoresheet in a 2-1 win, while Anne, who is an Arsenal supporter, also sees RVP finding the back of the net.

49 - Close again: Great delivery once more by Van der Vaart, with De Jong the man frustrated on this occasion as he fails to get a telling touch at the back post.

48 - Runs away: Semshov makes a rare forray into the Dutch box, only to see the ball he is chasing run agonisignly away from him and out for a goal-kick. At least the Russian midfield is getting forward though, let's hope they continue to do so.

47 - Sloppy: Ignashevich needs three attempts to clear his lines and is fortunate not to present Van der Vaart or Van Nistelrooy with a clear run on goal.

46 - First touch: Almost an immediate impact by Van Persie. Slick interplay takes the Dutch into the penalty-box, but the Arsenal man crashes a volley well wide.

Sub: Kuyt has made way for Van Persie at the break. Can he inspire the Dutch. He certainly has the creative ability.

Second-half: Holland get us up and running again.

Holding out for hero: Anne is hoping that we get a goal in the second period as she wants to go grocery shopping! Everyone has their reasons I suppose. I still think we will get a goal, but which way I wouldn't like to say.

Half-time: Holland 0 Russia 0. Guus Hiddink's side have edged the first 45 minutes, but Holland know that they can do much better. Are we going to have a winner inside 90 minutes, or are we going all the way? Remember you can get in touch on Chris.Burton@bskyb.com or via the feedback button in the Score Centre.

45 - Not happening: Semshov tries to free Semak down the left but overhits his pass out of play. Half-time may come at a good time for the Russians. They have been organised, but Hiddink will relish the opportuntity to get them fired up again.

44 - Sloppy: Kolodin gifts possession to Van der Vaart and can only watch in hope as the Hamburg man unleashes on goal. Fortunately for the Russian defender the effort is straight down Alkinfeev's throat, but they can ill afford to put chances on a plate for this talented Dutch side.

Dutch courage: Inspired by Dumi's vodka story Anne is wondering whether it is okay to start on the wine. Remeber Anne is in Hawaii, where it's very early in the morning, so her decision to stay on the tea for now is probably for the best!

41 - Close: Engelaar escpaes his man and tries to reach Van der Vaart's free-kick. The delivery is slightly too long and drifts out of play but the Russian defence just stood and watched the orange shirts run away from them.

39 - Easy take: Sneijder tries his luck with a free-kick from fully 35-yards. His drive cannons off the top of the wall and loops dangerously towards goal, but Alkinfeev watches it all the way and shows a safe pair of hands.

37 - Smart stop: Van NIstelrooy is allowed to turn in the box, always dangerous, but sees his effort palmed away by Akinfeev. The shot was fairly central and Hiddink would have expected his keeper to deal with it. Further proof though that both sides only need a millisecond to create an opening.

37 - No threat: Mathijsen is able to climb above everybody to nod away a Russian corner, with no white shirt putting in a challenge.

36 - No cutting edge: Holland make good progress until the reach the Russian box and then run out of ideas. For a side who looked so impressive during the group stages they look lost at present.

Which way? Patrick has gone for a 2-0 Holland win, having previously backed 3-1, while Shikhar sees Arshavin and Pavlyuchenko inspiring Russia to a 2-1 success. Let's see!

33 - Ambitious: Even further out this time as Kolodin once again winds up his right foot and unleashes a thunderbolt of a shot. This time it sails inches over, but Holland now know not to allow the centre-half any room within shooting distance.

32 - Pile driver: Kolodin lets rip from 30-yards and calls Van der Sar into action once more, Slightly easier stop this time, but he still needs to get a touch to help it on his way.

31 - Good save: Arshavin teases Ooijer on the left, before curling a low effort towards the far post. Van der Sar is alert once again though and gets down brilliantly to get fingertips to the ball.

29 - So close: Beautiful delivery by Van der Vaart which curls in towards the back post. De Jong is unable to get a head to the ball, while Van Nistelrooy swings at fresh air as the ball sails past him. The Real Madrid striker had the better opportunity and how he missed the ball remains a mystery.

28 - No support: Saenko does well to turn over a cross from the right, but Pavlychenko is the only man in the box and he is outnumbered by four Oranje shirts. Russia have more than matched their opponents so far and need to be more adventurous.

26 - Well struck: Russia fail to clear their lines following a corner and Engelaar blasts a drilled effort from the edge of the box narrowly wide of the post. There were so many bodies in the way all it needed was a touch and would have flown past Akinfeev.

25 - Settled: Teh Dutch are definitely enjoying more of the ball now but, as yet, have been unable to create openings for their dangerous front men, Sneijder had half a chance, but Van Nistelrooy has hardly touched the ball.

24 - Poor again: Zyryanov with a free-kick from the right which is easily nodded away by Ooijer. The game has lost some of its early momentum, probably because Holland appear to have finally found their feet.

Russian toast: Dumi, in Glasgow, is getting behind the Russians. His reasons, he has a bottle of vodka in hand and that seems as good as an excuse as any. The only problem may be that he is predicting extra-time and penalties. In that case take it easy, we have a long way to go yet.

19 - Sight of goal: A poor header for Aniukov sees Sneijder in on goal, only for the Real Madrid man to then be denied by a desperate lunge from Ignashevich. Van Nistelrooy then lifts the follow-up into the clouds. Best chance for the Dutch and Hiddink will not be amused at how easily his defence parted there.

17 - Waste: First Zhirkov fires a promising free-kick high into the stands, before Sneijder does exactly the same thing down the other end. Disappointing as both sides have plenty of men capable in the air.

Must do better: Jamie thinks that Holland need to up their game if they are to emerge victorious tonight. That said, he is still going for a 2-1 result in favour of the Dutch.

15 - Break away: Pavlyuchenko beats the offside trap and gallops into space down the left. He is on his own though and by the time the support arrives he has lost the ball to Boulahrouz.

14 - Pushing on: Van Bronckhurst makes a positive burst down the left, but Kuyt's attempted through-ball is cut out by Aniukov. There is plenty of room on the flanks, and with the Russian full-backs loving to bomb forward the Dutch may have some joy in that department.

12 - Heartbeat: Arshavin is drifting into space between the Dutch defence and midfield and is seeing plenty of the ball. Engelaar of Sneijder need to make sure they keep an eye on the tricky Zenit St Petersburg man as the defence will not want to push out too far.

10 - Confident: Russia look so comfortable on the ball and are a shadow of the side hammered by Spain. If Holland thought they were going to have things their own way tonight, they were wrong!

Dutch glory: Patrick sees Holland running out comfortable 3-0 winners. If that is to happen they need to tighten up at the back as they are all over the place at the moment.

8 - Living dangerously: Pavlyuchenko this time goes close with a header which drops onto the roof of the net. He had escaped his man and, while he had to stretch to reach the ball, he should have at least hit the target. Will Russia be left to rue these missed chances?

7 - Close again: Russia are on the offensive at present and have Holland on the rack. Semshov this time forces Van der Sar into an important stop. The Manchester United keeper can only parry the ball into space in front of goal but no white shirt is on hand to tap home.

6 - Good save: Zhrikov displays his set-piece ability as he whips a dangerous 25-yard effort in on goal. Van der Sar reacts quickly though and pushes it round the post.

Good morning: To Anne in Hawaii. Welcome back and thanks for tuning. I agree that this game promises much and we could be in for a treat. For the record, Anne is going for a 2-0 Holland win, with Van Basten's men to go on and meet Spain in the final. Getting slightly ahead of ourselves here, but oh well!

4 - Almost: Kuyt threatens to get in behind Zhirkov, who we all know is better going forward, but the ball runs away from him. Bright start and I can't see a repeat of the dour 90 minutes we endured between Croatia and Turkey last night.

2 - Tracking back: Got work by Sneijder as he prevents a promising ball looped over the top of the Dutch defence from reaching the dangerous Arshavin. Holland cannot afford the Russian playmaker too much of the ball as he is capable of cutting them to pieces.

1 - Clumsy touch: Casual by Van Bronckhurst as he lets a simple pass slip under his foot and out of play. There are bound to be nerves out there and it's a matter of who settles quickest.

Here we go:Russia get us underway.

Ready for the off: The teams have entered the arena and the national anthems have been belted out. Both sets of players look well up for the task ahead of them. Once again it is the Dutch who have, by far and away, the greater support in the stands, but can the Russians silence them? We are about to find out!

Team news: Having rested his big-hitters against Romania Van Basten has brought back his match-winners for this contest. Van Nistelrooy, Sneijder, Van der Vaart and Kuyt all return and will be hoping to repeat their early tournament form. Hiddink is keeping faith with the group who got Russia to this point, with much expected of Arshavin and Pavlyuchenko up front.

Russia team: Akinfeev, Aniukov, Ignashevich, Kolodin, Zhirkov, Semak, Zyryanov, Semshov, Saenko, Arshavin, Pavlyuchenko. Subs: Gabulov, Malafeev, Vasili Berezutsky, Yanbaev, Alexei Berezutsky, Adamov, Torbinsky, Ivanov, Shirokov, Bilyaletdinov, Sychev, Bystrov.

Holland team: Van der Sar, Boulahrouz, Ooijer, Mathijsen, Van Bronckhorst, De Jong, Engelaar, Kuyt, Van der Vaart, Sneijder, van Nistelrooy. Subs: Timmer, Stekelenburg, Heitinga, De Zeeuw, Van Persie, Robben, Melchiot, Bouma, De Cler, Huntelaar, Afellay, Vennegoor of Hesselink.

Referee: Lubos Michel (Slovakia)

How do you see the game panning out? Will the Oranje army march on to the semi-finals or will Russia be the ones booking a place in the last four? Who will come out on top in the battle of the Dutch coaches - Van Basten or Hiddink? Who will have the greatest impact on proceedings - Van Nistelrooy, Sneijder, Arshavin, Zhirkov? Whatever happens it promises to be an intriguing contest between two teams who have already displayed their impressive attacking qualities.

The Dutch have looked invincible to this point, emerging from the Group of Death with maximum points and comprehensive victories over France and Italy. Russia, on the other hand, made a less than convincing start to their campaign, going down 4-1 to Spain. However, they have recovered well and put in a commanding display during their final must-win Group D encounter against an experienced Sweden side.

Welcome to St Jakob Park in Basel for tonight's Euro 2008 quarter-final clash between Holland and Russia.
