Hughes Mark Manchester City manager
The whistle goes and it is mission accomplished for City as they run out comfortable 2-0 winners to start the Hughes era on a positive note.

85 Fluent attack - City are enjoying most of the possession again and are making EB/Streymur chase shadows at the moment.

80 Still in the balance - This tie is not over yet as Evans spurs another chance for City. Hughes will want one more goal in the final ten minutes.

74 Double substitution - Jo's work is done for the night and he should be fairly satisfied with his debut. Hamann is also off, with Fernandes and Evans entering the fray.

72 Just over - Petrov takes aim from 20 yards and hits a dipping effort inches over the crossbar.

67 Almost three - Vassell has a chance to effectively seal City's passage into the next round but his effort is deflected wide for a corner.

65 Jo on the wane - Jo has been less than impressive since the break. He linked up play well in the first half but has not had the same impact in the last 20 minutes. In fact, City have created very few chances indeed since the restart.

57 Sloppy City - City, who of course qualified for the Uefa Cup through the Fair Play league, have given away a number of needless free-kicks early in the second half. The referee, incidentally, is female official Nicole Petignat from Switzerland.

53 More of a contest - This is a great stage for the EB/Streymur players to showcase their skills and Samuelson has been particularly impressive going forward.

50 Excellent atmosphere - The stadium is nearly full with over 6,000 people present and the home fans finally have something to cheer as Hart makes an awkward save from Bardur Olsen.

Back underway - The second half has kicked off and City are quickly back into their stride, hunting for a third goal.

that is how unthreatening the home side has been. Hughes will be looking closely at the way his midfielders work together and he may want to bring in reinforcements in the middle of the park.

20 Ambitious - Ireland tries his luck with a volley from 25 yards which flies high into the crowd.

17 One-way traffic - City are still well on top. Steve has been in touch to question why Vassell has been picked, but the striker has been impressive so far and forced a good save out of goalkeeper Torgard.

Goal9 Petrov drives home a powerful shot after good work from Vassell and Johnson. City have been totally dominant so far and I imagine there could be many more goals to come.

4 Bright start - The hosts have made a decent start but Jo has also looked lively with a couple of neat touches.

0 Kick-off - The game is underway and summer signing Jo has been handed a debut by Hughes. It is a strong-looking City side and they will be confident of victory. You can let me know your views by using the feedback button in the scorecentre or by dropping me a line at Lewis.Rutledge@bskyb.com
