90+5 That's it! All over at White Hart Lane. Sunderland can count themselves unlucky here, they were the better team for much of the game but Spurs made them pay for their missed chances with two well taken goals. Bent will be kicking himself for missing the chance to put one over on his old club, but probably more disappointed to see his current club come away with no points when they maybe deserved more.
90+3 Reid Blazes a free-kick over the bar.
90+1 Bent, Richardson and Woodgate all collide in the area in the rush to get to a cross and Spurs clear.
90 There will be five minutes of added time.
89 Healy's cross in straight into the arms of Gomes.
87 Reid tries to find McCartney but Spurs cut out the danger.
85 Spurs looking comfortable with the ball as the clock winds down. Is the Sunderland threat well and truly gone now?
83 Turner rises to head a Campbell cross towards goal but Gomes makes another impressive stop.
81 Jenas tries to play Defoe through but the striker is offside.
80 Kranjcar has a pop from distance but it's quite a way over the bar.
80 Finally we have a lull in the action as Spurs look like will comfortably close this out.
77 Malbranque is being replaced by David Healy and Anton Ferdinand replaces Bardsley.
75 The ball falls for Kranjcar again but Turner flings himself in the way of the shot and it's deflected behind.
74 Spurs are surging forward, understandably full of confidence.
72 Sunderland have the ball again but, to be honest, they look really deflated after that second goal.
70 Well I don't think you'll ever see a more flattering scoreline than this but you have to give credit to Spurs, they've taken their chances well.
Defoe laid the ball off on the edge of the area and Huddlestone ran onto it, absolutely pelting it off the underside of the bar and into the net. Fulop's first touch is to pick it out of the back of the net.
GOAL - HUDDLESTONE!!
68 Crouch nods down a high ball for Kranjcar but the Croatian scuffs his shot.
67 The problems continue for Gordon. He's still hurting from the Defoe collision and the keeper is being brought off. Marton Fulop will replace him - that's another former Spurs player.
65 Some lively play straight away from Kranjcar as he puts in a great cross that Crouch fails to get on the end of.
63 Keane is going to be replaced by Kranjcar as several e-mailers get their wish.
62 Bent gets his head on a great cross from Henderson but Gomes is there again to make the stop.
61 Malbranque has a go from the edge of the area but Gomes makes another good save.
60 Michael Dawson is on for Ledley King as Gordon is back up and able to continue.
58 Wow. Defoe was in on goal but Craig Gordon came out to take the ball. The striker looked like he accidentally caught Gordon in the face with the follow through and then, with the keeper down, Huddlestone almost slotted into an empty net but was thwarted by a block from Bardsley.
56 Spurs now look to have weathered that huge spell of Sunderland pressure and have a corner of their own, but nothing comes of it.
55 "That's why we sold him," comes the chant from the home stands. Salt and wounds come to mind.
54 Dramatic stuff here! I'm sure there will be some differing opinions on that penalty but Bent bought it in classic style. Gomes recovered to make a great save, but should he have been sent off?
53 BENT MISSES! Gomes, who is quite lucky to still be on the pitch having only got a yellow card, guesses right and makes a brilliant save.
52 It's a penalty! Bent has won one for sure now. He touched the ball away from Gomes and drew the contact then went to ground. Classic penalty win.
50 Space opens up for Richardson but his right-footed shot is sliced badly and nowhere near. Sunderland still on-top.
49 Malbranque sends in a half-cross, half-shot that sails wide of the goal and out for a goal-kick.
48 Turner is turned by Defoe and responds with a cynical foul on the Spurs man. He's in the book for that.
47 McCartney floats a ball in for Bent but Assou-Ekotto manages to clear.
46 Bardsley is down after a collision with Ledley King but is on his feet soon enough and play continues.
45 Kick-off! The second half is underway
Grant in Essex sends in this: "Crouch to score within 10 mins of second half and Tottenham to run out 3-0 winners - Defoe will get the third."
Some super-duper slow-motion replays are showing that Bent touched the ball away from Gomes and was then clattered by the Brazilian. Sure to be a point of controversey after the match.
Tony doubts that Sunderland can keep this up for the full 90 minutes but he is keeping the faith anyway and predicts a 2-1 win for the Black Cats.
Spurs fan Stephen sends in this view on the first half: "Sunderland have been pretty good and dominated us in the first half, but we're playing an outrageous formation. Spurs have been terrible. No width at all. All we're doing is sending it long to Crouch. If we keep this formation for the second half I'd like to see Hutton on for Corluka. Switching to 4-4-2 would be the most sensible option though, taking off Crouch and putting on Kranjcar, perhaps Bentley on for Huddlestone too. "
If anyone has any predictions or views at half-time, e-mail them into alex.williams@bskyb.com and I'll post a selection. If Sunderland keep playing like this it's only a matter of time before they score, isn't it?
45+8 Half-Time. Spurs hold the lead at the break but Sunderland have been on-top most of the first 45 minutes. They've hit the post and had a shout for a penalty turned down but haven't found a way through. There's even some boos from the home fans at the whistle, such is the dominance of the away side.
45+2 Bardsley is in about five yards of space from Reid's corner but he tamely heads into the side-netting.
45+1 Campbell almost gets past Assou-Ekotto but the left-back makes a great tackle and it's out for a corner.
45 Henderson tries to float a ball in to Bent. He had an open goal if the ball was perfect but it's just over his head.
44 Defoe chests, turns and shoots but the ball is wide of the post.
43 Henderson fouls Corluka and receives what must be a final warning from the referee. He's already been booked, remember.
42 Richardson races onto Bent's flick-on but his touch is heavy and Gomes comes to gather the ball.
41 Things have calmed down a bit now but it's still Sunderland having all of the ball.
39 Corluka's back-header is short and Richardson is in! But Gomes comes out and makes a brilliant stop to keep Spurs ahead.
38 Henderson is booked for a foul on Palacios.
37 Reid smacks one from distance that beats Gomes all ends up and cannons back off the post. So close to an equaliser!
37 Defoe races through on goal but the flag is up for offside.
35 Gomes is down after the contact with Bent. The goalkeeper takes a long time to get up but it looks as if he will play on.
33 Shout at the other end as Defoe goes down in the box. Referee Kevin Friend turns that down as well.
32 The visiting fans are screaming for a penalty after Bent goes down in the box. Frazier Campbell pulled it back and Gomes dived at the feet of the striker. There's contact, but Gomes got the ball I think.
31 Palacios misplaces a pass to Vedran Corluka, giving Sunderland possession in the Spurs half.
30 Tom Huddlestone is down on the floor after being hit in the, er, mid-section by a flying ball. He understandably takes a few moments to gather himself but he'll be OK to continue.
28 Spurs having a lot more of the ball now as Sunderland's early fire seems to have been put out. For now, at least.
27 Spurs having an extended spell of possession. The crowd urge them to do something with it. However, it eventually comes to nought.
25 Defoe gets past a challenge and lets fly from the edge of the area but he finds Paulo da Silva in the way.
24 Bent wins the ball in the box but the flag was already up for offside.
23 Bardsley has a pop from a long way out but his attempt is wide of the post and Gomes had it covered anyway.
22 Keane tries to create another chance with a threaded ball through but it's cut out.
20 Sunderland still having the lion's share of possession but haven't been able to make it count so far.
18 Great play from Malbranque sees him create some space and play the ball back for Richardson. The midfielder shoots from the edge of the area but it's scuffed wide.
17 Spurs look to break away but Jenas holds onto the ball when he really should have laid it off and Sunderland escape.
16 The replays show Keane was just about level with the defensive line. Not much in it, but I think he was onside.
15 Reid crashes through the back of Jermaine Jenas and concedes a free-kick but is not shown a card.
14 Sunderland defenders were appealing for offside but the flag stayed down. Will have to see the replays for the last word on that.
Assou-Ekotto floated it in from the left, the header was won by Crouch and Keane, completely unmarked, got on the end of it. Not the cleanest of finishes as the Irishman bundled it into the net, but they all count. 1-0.
12 GOAL - KEANE!
9 Keane and Phil Bardsley go for a high ball and the Spurs player is caught by a boot. No malicious intent and Bardsley gets away with a warning.
8 Crouch goes up for a Header with Michael Turner but the flag is up for offside and the visitors will clear.
6 Bent receives the ball out on the right and fizzes in a great ball. Jordan Henderson almost diverts it into the net but it flashes wide instead. Should have done better there.
5 Sunderland having quite a bit of possession early on but Andy Reid's attempted through ball is dealt with comfortably by the Spurs defence.
3 Rob sends in a last-minute predeiction of a Spurs win: "I think we are going to struggle, maybe 2-1 or 3-2 win to spurs. Crouch and Jenas do not warrant a run, keane up front and niko on left."
2 Benoit Assou-Ekotto sends a long ball towards Defoe but the England striker can't control and it's out for a throw.
1 Sunderland move the ball nicely down the left flank early on but George McCartney's cross is easily collected by Gomes.
0 Kick-off! We're underway at White Hart Lane.
Perfectly obseved and we're now ready for kick-off.
A minute's silence is now being observed ahead of Remembrance Sunday tomorrow.
The teams are walking out onto the field as the home crowd pays tribute to the Second and Fourth Battalions of The Rifles.
We're nearing kick-off as White Hart Lane begins to truly fill-up. Not long to go now.
Alistair also thinks Kranjcar should be in the starting line-up today: "Disappointed that Harry is playing Robbie over Niko. No natural wingers today yet we're starting Crouch. Bent scoring is completely predictable, but I won't care as long as we win. 2-1 Spurs."
As Keane, Defoe and Crouch have all been named in the starting line-up, Ian asks if Spurs are playing 4-3-3. Keane is listed on the left side of midfield on the provisional team sheet but we'll have to see as the match wears on. Ian also thinks Niko Kranjcar would be a better option on the left wing.
Gary from Hampshire thinks Spurs will return to winning ways in this one. He predicts a 3-1 victory for the home side.
Spurs are the massive odds-on favourites for this, being 8/15 over at SkyBet. Sunderland are outsiders at 6/1 while a draw is 11/4. They are also offering a certain Mr D Bent at 7/1 to score first. Hmmm.
Apart from that potentially explosive element, the contest sees two early-season European candidates face-off. Spurs made a flying start but have stuttered a little in recent weeks while Sunderland also have not managed a victory in their last two. Jermain Defoe makes a return from suspension for the hosts but they will still have to go on without influential midfielders Luka Modric and Aaron Lennon. If anyone has any views or predictions on this match, make sure to drop me an e-mail at alex.williams@bskyb.com and I'll post a selection.
Well, the build-up for this match has been dominated by one man: Darren Bent. The former Spurs striker was, according to himself, not the most popular figure during his time at White Hart Lane and now faces his old club for the first time since signing for Sunderland during the summer. Will he come back to haunt the Tottenham faithful?
The referee for today's clash is Kevin Friend of Leicestershire.
Sunderland: Gordon, Bardsley, Turner, Da Silva, McCartney, Malbranque, Henderson, Richardson, Andy Reid, Bent, Campbell. Subs: Fulop, Ferdinand, Nosworthy, Murphy, Meyler, Healy, Adam Reed.
The teams are in. Tottenham: Gomes, Corluka, King, Woodgate, Assou-Ekotto, Jenas, Huddlestone, Palacios, Keane, Crouch, Defoe. Subs: Alnwick, Hutton, Bale, Bentley, Pavlyuchenko, Dawson, Kranjcar.
