FT: Blackburn 3 Burnley 2

Chimbonda: Rovers' third goal

Full Time90 It's all over and Blackburn have held on to beat fierce rivals Burnley 3-2 in an action-packed Lancashire derby at Ewood Park to ensure Rovers fans have bragging rights over their Clarets counterparts until they next meet in March. The visitors had got off to a dream start with Blake's fantastic long-range strike but Rovers hit back with goals from Dunn, Di Santo and Chimbonda to take full control before Eagles' last-gasp effort set up a nervy finish.

Yellow Card90 Roberts charges down the left wing only to be brought down by Jensen who came storming out of his box! The goalkeeper is shown the yellow card but not a red because it wasn't a clear opportunity to score.

90 This is a frantic finish as Burnley continue to pump balls into the box but a nervy Blackburn defence keep getting it clear.

90 Dunn has an opportunity to kill Burnley off when he finds himself in space outside the box but he takes too long and eventually is shot is blocked. The rebound falls to Pedersen but his effort flies just over the bar.

Goal90 GOAL EAGLES - Well they've got one back! The man who has made all the difference to Burnley since coming on has slid the ball home after a cut back inside the area left the Blackburn defence flat footed.

90 The corner however comes to nothing and Burnley now have four minutes of stoppage time to score two goals.

89 That said the Clarets mount an attack with Eagles, who sees his powerful low drive tipped wide of the post by Robinson.

88 Blackburn have Burnley penned back in their own half and it's doubtful the visitors will get one back, let alone two.

Yellow Card87 The bookings are coming thick and fast now - this time Samba penalised for a foul on Caldwell when trying to jostle for position inside the box.

Substitution86 Allardyce decides to make another change, this time Chimbonda coming off for Gael Givet.

Yellow Card85 Mears is the latest Burnley player in the referee's book after a very late and poorly-timed tackle on Pedersen in midfield.

84 Blackburn are still looking menacing down both wings but this time Emerton's cross is cleared by Mears.

Yellow Card83 A crunching challenge from Carlisle brings Dunn to ground with a bang and it's no surprise to see the yellow card brandished by Foy.

82 Thompson tries his luck from distance but he makes a poor connection and the ball bobbles tamely wide of the post.

Substitution81 Brett Emerton comes on for Blackburn in place of Diouf.

80 Elliot gets away down the right before curling in a dangerous cross for Eagles, who then lays it off to Alexander on the edge of the box. The defensive midfielder then unleashes a fierce shot but is unlucky to see it blocked.

79 McDonald surges forward for Burnley with his first touches of the game but Diouf lands a perfectly-timed tackled, much to the delight of the home fans.

Substitution78 Burnley's last change sees Kevin McDonald coming on to replace Bikey.

77 Eagles tries to find some space down the left wing but he's firmly and fairly pushed off the ball and Blackburn win back possession.

76 Eagles should have started this clash. Since coming on he's really inspired the Clarets to attack and most of their threat comes through him.

Substitution75 Now it's Blackburn's turn to make a substitution and it's the youngster Di Santo who leaves the field to a standing ovation to be replaced by Jason Roberts.

74 After a mazy dribble through the middle, Elliot slots a clever pass down the left side of the area for Eagles but strong defending from Nelson comes out on top.

73 Blackburn look unruffled at the back and Burnley really need to go for the jugular in this final segment of the match if they're to salvage a point and more importanly their pride.

Substitution72 Burnley make another change with Steven Thompson coming on to replace the largely ineffective Nugent.

71 Blackburn have regained their attacking momentum and Burnley are finding it tough to keep up with the pace at times.

70 Jensen is unsteady once again as he mis-judges another ball into the box, but this time the Burnley defence get him out of jail.

69 The free kick is driven forward into the box and Jensen misses it once again following a slight barge from Samba. The ball then bounces over the bar but the referee had blown for a free kick against the Blackburn defender anyway.

68 The signs of frustration are really beginning to show for Burnley as Elliott chops down Chimbonda in midfield.

67 The Burnley fans are still getting well behind their side in the hope they can somehow turn this game around. But time is running down.

66 Eagles comes forward for Burnley and passes it out wide for Wade Elliott, who puts his cross wide and out of play for a goal kick.

65 The ball is whipped into the box but a commanding Jensen takes a routine catch.

64 Mears gives away a needless free kick for Blackburn on the left wing, and this is a danger for Burnley.

63 Sam Allardyce is shown looking at his watch - surely he can't be that anxious with a two-goal cushion?

62 Blake swings the ball into the box and Caldwell's powerful header is cleared off the line by Chimbonda.

61 Within moments of coming on Eagles bursts forward and slots a pass down the left side of the area for Blake, who sees his cross put behind for a corner.

Substitution60 Burnley make a change with Fletcher making way for Chris Eagles.

59 Jensen appears to be back to his usual self, as he once again deals with a cross into the area with confidence and authority.

58 The mystery remains unresolved as play continues and Blackburn go down the left wing and win a corner when Pedersen's cross is deflected behind.

57 Fletcher falls to the ground after a foul from Nzonzi but elsewhere Bikey is also down - although nobody knows how he got there!

56 The game comes to a halt briefly after Mears suffers a minor injury in the area, but he should be OK to continue.

55 Dunn swings the delivery into the box but this time Jensen makes a confident claim.

54 Di Santo jinks his way past Mears on the left before his cross is deflected behind by Caldwell for a corner.

53 Di Santo beats the offside trap to retrieve the ball down the left wing, but he's unable to get a cross in due to Burnley's hard-working defending.

52 Samba and Ryan Nelson are controlling the Rovers defence well and frustration is beginning to spill into Burnley's play.

51 The resulting free kick comes to nothing after Foy blows for a foul against Burnley inside the box.

Yellow Card50 Chris Foy from Merseyside books Nzonzi after he brings down Blake in midfield. It's unclear whether the yellow card is a result of the foul or what the Blackburn man said afterwards.

49 The Clarets are showing early intent to get back into this clash and Fletcher is unfortunate to see his latest effort from outside the box go wide of the post.

48 Blackburn come forward on their left wing but excellent defending from Clarke Carlisle prevents a cross coming into the box.

47 Burnley come forward down the left but Stephen Jordan's lofted cross into the box is easily claimed by Robinson.

46 The second half gets under way with Burnley looking to stage what would be an incredibly comeback in this Lancashire derby at Ewood Park.

Sky Bet The late Chimbonda goal might have done enough to see off Burnley - the Clarets are now 40/1 with Sky Bet to stage a miraculous comeback. Blackburn, 1/25 for victory, look full of goals and the following have been backed to score the next goal - Di Santo (15/2), Dunn (10/1) and Samba (22/1).

Half Time45 The whistle sounds and Blackburn head into the break leading this Lancashire derby 3-1 against Burnley at Ewood Park. The Clarets got a dream start through Blake's superb strike but goals from Dunn, Di Santo and Chimbona have put Rovers well and truly in the box seat.

45 Owen Coyle will surely have a few choice words to say to his team at the interval although you have to wonder if the damage is irreparable.

45 There will be three minutes of stoppage time to play at the end of this half.

44 Burnley need a quick response and Fletcher looks to atone for his mistake moments ago with a fizzing long range drive, but Robinson makes the save.

Goal43 GOAL CHIMBONDA - More sloppy defending from Burnley - this time from Steven Fletcher - allows Pascal Chimbona to cut into the area from the left before firing a firm shot past Jensen into the far corner. It was a flowing team move from Rovers beforehand, but Chimbonda had too much time and space in which to shoot.

41 Blackburn continue to apply the pressure as the half-time break looms and Burnley can't afford to fall further behind.

40 Once again its Dunn who takes it, and once again it's Samba who heads it across the face of goal from the far post, but this time Jensen comes and claims it.

39 Andre Bikey fouls Diouf on the right wing to give Blackburn a free kick in a similar position to the one which led to their second goal.

38 Pedersen takes advantage of a Tyrone Mears on the left to win possession and float and long ball forward for Dunn to chase, but the midfielder is flagged offside.

37 Samba is a composed figure at the back for Blackburn right now and Burnley are struggling to find a way past him.

36 Dunn, who has now scored five goals in seven games this season, is looking to strike at every opportunity and this time a low shot from 25 yards out is comfortably saved by Jensen.

35 The hosts keep working both wings and Burnley are working hard to prevent crosses coming into the box.

34 Both teams have seemingly got their defensive acts in order following the early glut of goals but Blackburn still look the team most likely to strike again.

33 Samba attempts to belt the ball clear as Burnley keep the pressure on down the left wing but a tenacious Blake races across to make the tackle and take it out of play.

32 Blake pumps a long ball into the box and although Steven Caldwell wins the header, the defender's effort goes well wide.

31 Burnley throw bodies forward as they prepare to take a free kick on the right side of midfield.

30 The delivery into the area is a good one and finds Samba, who plants a firm header just over the bar.

29 Jensen is having a nightmare at the moment, this time he fails to keep the ball in play when making a catch and therefore concedes a corner. He's still visibly rattled by his error for Blackburn's second goal.

28 Dunn is full of confidence right now and goes for an audacious lob from distance, only to see the ball harmlessly float into Jensen's arms.

27 The visitors embark on a promising team move through midfield but the dogged determination of Nzonzi snuffs out the threat.

26 The long throw into the area doesn't cause Burnley any problems and the visitors clear their lines.

25 Blackburn keep up the pressure and win another throw near the corner.

24 Jacobsen bursts forward but on entering the area down the right he takes too long to decide what to do and Blake steams back to make the tackle.

23 Burnley go back up the other end with Blake inside the box but he's closed down and unable to get a shot at goal.

22 It really was a poor goal to concede from Burnley's point of view. It should have been a routine take for Jensen, but having stumbled into his own players, he gifted Blackburn their second goal of the game.

Yellow Card22 Moments after scoring, Di Santo is booked for his celebration.

Goal21 GOAL DI SANTO - Dunn floats the free kick into the box and after Samba heads it back across the face of goal, Di Santo takes advantage of Graham Alexander's woefully weak clearance - which followed Jensen colliding with his own defender when trying to claim the ball - to head into an open net.

20 Lars Jacobsen is fouled on the right wing and Blackburn have a free kick in a promising position.

19 There's not been one bad tackle in the match so far - maybe it will be a relatively peaceful derby after all!

18 Burnley are passing the ball nicely in midfield as they play the patient approach but Blackburn's pressing style is keeping them at pay.

17 Morten Gamst Pedersen hurls a long throw into the box and although Jensen comes and misses it, Burnley still manage to hack it clear.

16 Steven Nzonzi leaps high inside the box as he goes for a header inside the box, but his efforts are in vain as the ball drifts behind for a goal kick.

15 Burnley punt a long ball forward down the right, searching for Nugent, but Blackburn's defenders are equal to it and clear the danger.

14 Blackburn work a lovely move across the edge of the box from left to right but when the ball ends up at the feet of Diouf, the former Bolton star drags a low effort wide of the post.

13 David Nugent tries to make an impact down the right as he looks to cross but Samba wins back possession for Rovers.

12 It's end-to-end stuff right now although Burnley's next attack comes to nothing when Blake's attempted cross from the left is deflected away from danger.

11 Blackburn come forward again with Franco Di Santo and El-Hadji Diouf exchanging passes but the Burnley defence hold firm.

10 Well what a start we've had at Ewood Park - blowing my prediction of 0-0 out of the window! Let's hope there's plenty of more drama and goal-mouth action to come.

Goal9 GOAL DUNN - Blackburn are back on level terms after David Dunn, the only locally born player on the pitch today, drills home a clinical shot from inside the box, giving Brian Jensen no chance.

7 The Clarets fans are making all the noise right now as their Blackburn fear the potential of defeat to their local rivals.

6 Sam Allardyce will be fuming his defenders allowed Blake so much space to run into but the Burnley supporters are bouncing with delight at Ewood Park.

Goal5 GOAL BLAKE - Burnley break forward on the counter attack after a fine run from the left Robbie Blake unleashes a stunning strike from around 25 yards which flies past Paul Robinson and into the net.

4 Blackburn keep pressing in these early stages but a promising move down the left breaks down.

3 Christopher Samba has the game's first effort, but with his back to goal the defender hoists a wayward shot over the bar from inside the box.

2 Burnley have yet to score on the road in the Premier League this season, and there really isn't a better place for them to get their first than at Ewood Park. It's been a scrappy start from both teams so far and I feel chances will be at a premium.

1 We're under way here at Ewood Park and predictably the atmosphere is red hot as both sets of supporters, who have looked forward to this fixture ever since Burnley won promotion, compete hard in the singing stakes. On the pitch, another heated battle begins.

I've had an email sent in from an unnamed reader, which says: "I am a Rovers Fan serving in the Royal Navy on a British Warship deployed in the North Atlantic, they are not showing the game out here for us...... instead we get Xfactor......NOT IMPRESSED!" Well make sure you follow it live with us!

Sky Bet Sky Bet have reported plenty of money for Blackburn to continue Burnley's dismal away form and they've been cut to 8/11 from 10/11 for the victory. The away win is priced at 4/1 with the draw available at 13/10. It's usually a bad tempered match so it's perhaps worth keeping an eye on the bookings markets, which offer 13/10 about there being over 55 points. Personally I feel the best bet will be the no goalscorer option at 8/1 given both sides will be desperate to avoid defeat.

As you can see from the team lists, Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce makes three changes to his side for today's derby against Burnley in the wake of the heavy defeat by Arsenal. Defenders Ryan Nelsen and Chris Samba return to the starting line-up, as does midfielder Morten Gamst Pedersen. Club captain Nelsen is hoping to mark his 32nd birthday with a victory in the first top-flight meeting between the clubs in 43 years. Burnley, unchanged following the home victory over Birmingham, are looking to notch up their first away league win after failing to score or secure a point in the previous four. Today's referee is Chris Foy from Merseyside.

The Blackburn team is: Robinson, Jacobsen, Samba, Nelsen, Chimbonda, Nzonzi, Andrews, Diouf, Dunn, Pedersen, Di Santo. Subs: Brown, Givet, Emerton, Roberts, McCarthy, Hoilett, Salgado.

The Burnley team is: Jensen, Mears, Carlisle, Caldwell, Jordan, Elliott, Alexander, Bikey, Blake, Nugent, Steven Fletcher. Subs: Penny, Kalvenes, Duff, McDonald, Gudjonsson, Thompson, Eagles.
