FT: Sheff Utd 0 Newcastle 1

Full Time The full-time whistle goes and Newcastle are back on the top of the Championship table thanks to Ryan Taylor's deflected second half goal. Stay tuned for all the post-match reaction from both camps.

90+4 Treacy's long range free-kick is high wide and handsome. That should be it. Newcastle have held on in injury time.

90+3 What a save! Henderson thought he had scored. He powered a header at goal, but again Harper makes the save.

90+2 Really good chance for Treacy at the back post, but Harper is well placed to make a fine save. Nearly a leveller for United.

90 Four minutes of injury time will be played. Hope for the home side yet.

90 Newcastle launch the ball forward for Harewood, but he doesn't really control the ball allowing United to hoof clear.

88 Just a few minutes left and not a lot is happening. Blackwell is on the sidelines barking out orders, but his team are looking short of ideas.

Substitution85 Another change for Newcastle with playmaker Gutierrez going off. He's been replaced by striker Marlon Harewood.

84 United float a ball into the penalty area, but Harper is there to gather. You can't see United levelling matters as it stands. Newcastle in control.

81 Posh manager Darren Ferguson is in South Yorkshire taking in this evening's match.

Substitution76 Odd switch for Newcastle with Ranger replacing full-back Simpson.

Substitution76 Third and final change for Blackwell's side with Camara replacing former Man City striker Evans.

75 Evans' low free-kick is well struck and on target, but Harper reads it well and makes a comfortable save down to his right.

73 United are back in control and exerting pressure of their own. Newcastle are happy defending in numbers and hitting the home side on the break.

72 Free-kick for United in a dangerous area after a handball from Simpson.

Substitution71 The home side have made their second change of the match with Cotterill replacing winger Stewart.

69 26,536 is tonight's attendance from Bramall Lane.

68 Not a lot to report at the moment. Chances are few and far between. Newcastle will be quite happy with this scoreline, but as long as it stays 1-0 United are in with a chance.

65 Another corner for Newcastle. The pressure is mounting on Blackwell's charges.

62 Decent ball into Newcastle's penalty area, but Stewart was unable to keep Treacy's cross down. It was a difficult header to be fair.

Substitution60 Blackwell is making his first change with the injured Walker being replaced by Ryan France.

59 United are showing signs of life, but it's been all Newcastle in the second half. The Magpies haven't been under any pressure. They are going back to the top of the table as it stands.

57 Nolan's ambitious shot is well wide of Bennett's goal. Walker is back on, but he's hobbling around.

56 Another chance for the visitors. Carroll is unable to get his shot on target with a first-time effort from a long lofted punt up field. United are rattled at the moment and it's obvious to see why.

55 Walker is still off the pitch being treated for an ankle injury. Blackwell won't want to lose him as he's been one of his better players.

54 Taylor's speculative long-range strike catches Morgan and takes a massive deflection and goes into the other side of the net. United are unhappy as Walker was down in the build-up, but the visitors played on.

Goal53 Goal! Newcastle are in front.

53 Oh so close for Newcastle. Carroll out-jumps three United defenders, but his header bounces against Bennett's left-hand upright.

52 Fine save by Bennett to deny Nolan. Enrique breaks for Newcastle. Nolan picks up the ball in United's penalty area, but his floated shot is palmed wide for a corner.

51 It's still scrappy. The game seems to have picked up where it left off in the first.

48 Taylor, who has already been booked, gets a ticking off from Friend for catching Walker. He's walking a tight rope after being booked in the first half.

46 Neither manager has made any changes during the interval so it's as you were at the start.

Half Time Newcastle get the second half underway!

"I think Newcastle will win 2-1 but we need to bring on Ranger to become more of a threat upfront. He may not be able to score at the moment but he always changes the game when he comes on," said Matt Spooner.

Half Time That's it! The half-time whistle goes and it's all-square at 0-0.

45+1 Evans does well to get into Newcastle's penalty area. He lashes a right-footed effort just wide of Harper's far post under pressure from Coloccini.

44 Treacy's low drive is distance is easily collected by Harper. It looks like we're going to be goalless at the break. It's been entertaining without a lot of quality in the final third.

43 Treacy's effort is poor and is easily cleared by the visitors.

Yellow Card42 Taylor is booked for hauling down Walker. It looks a soft booking, but it's been given. It's a dangerous free-kick now for United.

41 Ryan Taylor lines up a free-kick from distance, but his effort has a little too much on it and it floats harmlessly over Bennett's crossbar.

Yellow Card38 Carroll is now booked for a shirt-pull on Davies. It wouldn't surprise me if someone sees red this evening. It's getting tasty out there.

Newcastle now have almost a full strength squad back! Sheffield you dont stand a chance! Goal from nolan and carroll. COME ON NEWCASTLE!!! From Richard Reid.

(hello to Carlo and Kat)

36 Coloccini has a little kick out there at Henderson. The pair clashed a moment ago when the Magpies stopper appeared to land on the striker's foot. That could be one to watch.

34 It's stop-start at the moment. Tackles are flying in without a lot of quality on the pitch.

Yellow Card30 Morgan is booked for upending Gutierrez. It looked like he might get away with it for a moment, but Friend has shown him the yellow card.

29 After a bright start from Kevin Blackwell's side the tide has turned slightly with Newcastle now in the ascendency.

"I think Newcastle might just pull out a 0-2 win and a solid professional performance. Good start from Harper but where is everyone else... keep talking at the back, please say Hi to Fede," said Jonathan Delliston.

26 Newcastle hit United on the home side ahead. Nolan gets away down the left, but Morgan clears his poor cross.

23 Newcastle finally get their act together, but Taylor's shot is straight at Bennett. He hit it well, but it was an easy save in the end.

22 It's all United. I can't see Newcastle scoring. They seem happy trying to contain the home side at the moment.

21 Treacy's wild left-footed shot fails to trouble Harper. It's confident he was try from out wide right, but you don't see many find the back of the net from that range or angle.

19 Harper's low shot is blocked by Evans, his own player! I'm not sure it was going in, but you never know unless you hit the target.

17 Quinn's first-time left-footed shot goes well over from Stewart's cross. Half a chance there, but he snatched at the shot.

17 Carroll is clean through on goal, however, the offside flag was up and fans weren't expecting a goal.

14 Great move by United, but Treacy fires his shot over the bar. Harper would have been in trouble in the on-loan Blackburn midfielder could have found the target.

11 Evans has a chance to cross after getting the better of Simpson, but his final ball lacks any quality.

7 First chance for Newcastle. The visitors break through Nolan. The ball ends up at Carroll's feed, but twice he hacks at the ball without really striking it cleanly. Just a warning shot there for United.

6 You'd have to say The Blades are having the better of the opening exchanges and they really should be in front through Henderson.

"I think it will be 2-1 to Newcastle, I don't support either team, I support Man City but I just think Newcastle will win it, it won't be easy for them but I think they'll just run away with the game and the 3 points," writes Ryan Smith.

3 Early chance for Henderson! He latches onto a fine through-ball, but with only Harper to beat his send his left-footed effort wide of the far post.

1 It's a bit of a scrappy opening minute with neither side settling quickly. It's loud here at Bramall Lane. Great atmosphere.

Half Time Sheffield United get tonight's match underway! Let's hope it's a cracker.

"I am a Blades fan and this is the one we have all been looking forward to! The bookies make the Toon slight favourites, and I think that is fair. Morale within the team will be low due to the recent poor run from Sheffield United, but the enthusiasm will be right up there tonight from Blackwell's side; and taking nothing away from a very strong opposition, this is going to be far from dull. Prediction: 1-1," writes Lord Heath.

Jamie Lewis says: "Newcastle to win 4-2. Nolan, Smith, Ryan Taylor and Carroll to score the goals."

The Blades' form has dipped following a derby win over Wednesday while The Magpies could return to the top of the Championship with success at Bramall Lane.
