City move up to fifth place with that victory, but I can't help thinking there's still something missing. Johnson's performance was encouraging though. For Bolton, they had their moments, but really lack a cutting edge. The visitors' build-up play was good and they looked the better team at times but their problems lie up front. Elmander doesn't seem to be the answer, although he's good on the ball. Thanks for tuning in.
90 + 5 Ref blows bang on five minutes to signal the end of the game.
90 + 4 Chance for Bolton. Good build-up play sees Steinsson cross fron the right only for Knight to head over in a great position.
90 + 3 Tannoy announcement makes Johnson man of the match. can't disagree with that.
90 + 2 Adebayor does well to keep the ball in and plays it inside for Tevez, who should have taken a shot from just outside the box but gets crowded out trying to create more room.
90 + 1 Sylvinho inexplicably kicks the ball out for a throw-in. Take your gloves off man!
90 Chance for Bolton. Ricketts floats in free-kick which is inevitably flicked on by Davies for Elmander at the back post who can only find the side-netting.
89 Five minutes stoppage time to be added on.
88 Adebayor caught offside again.
87 Sylvinho is wearing blue gloves. Nice.
86 Tevez gets crowded out trying to burst into the box.
85 Elmander penalised for a foul on Nigel De Jong deep in City's half.
84 Poor free-kick from Tevez. Final substituton for City as Silvio Sylvinho comes on for Johnson, who has had a great game.
83 Great interception from Zabaleta, who is brought down by Davies.
82 Taylor floats free-kick to back post for Davies, but Vieira gets the last touch. Corner is taken and Davies gets above defence but his header just drifts over.
81 SWP penalised for a foul on Steinsson for some reason.
80 Poor cross from Johnson which fails to beat Taylor. Lee has a one-on-one with Given, but the South Korean pokes it straight at the City keeper. Should have scored even though he was under pressure from a defender.
79 Taylor's first involvement is to give away a free-kick near the right touchline.
78 Matt Taylor comes on for Wilshere, who can be pleased with his efforts tonight.
76 Great play by Steinsson down the right but his cross fails to pick out a Bolton player.
75 Very poor challenge from Robinson, who is booked for clattering into Wright-Phillips.
74 Cohen off for Mark Davies.
73 GOAL ADEBAYOR! Superb floated pass by Vieira over the top to Adebayor, who just beats the offside trap, chests the ball down and volleys into the top corner.
72 Great tracking from Cohen, who makes a great challenge in the box following a backheel by Tevez.
71 Eastlands crowd sounding tense, but City are on the attack.
70 Knight gives the ball away after dummying Tevez. Lucky escape for Bolton.
69 Wright-Phillips is on at last and it's Bridge that makes way.
68 Wilshere's corner finds its way to Knight at the back post. He shoots, but Cohen backheels the ball well wide.
67 Wright-Phillips trying to get on but the game continues. Corner for Bolton.
66 Poor control from Cohen again in the middle of the park.
65 Bolton are definitely on top now. Shaun Wright-Phillips is coming on to freshen things up for City.
64 Don't think this match will finish 3-3 but I reckon there's another goal in it.
63 Johnson's free-kick is headed over by Barry in a crowded area.
62 First booking of the night as Muamba brings down Johnson on the touchline.
61 Bolton having a purple patch. Ball eventually cleared in the area.
60 Elmander chests ball down just outside the area and fires in a volley which is about a yard or two wide of the post.
59 Poor keeping from Given, who delays a clearance before kicking it straight at Elmander. Ball goes out for a goalkick.
58 Great trickery from Johnson, who cuts into the box and sends in a cross-cum-shot which Jaaskelainen palms away for a corner.
57 Davies penalised for a foul on Zabaleta. Toure injury confirmed as a knee injury.
56 Free-kick to City midway in the Bolton half.
55 Lescott comes on for Toure, who isn't able to carry on.
53 Embarrassing moment for Jaaskelainen. Tevez fires in the free-kick, which the goalkeeper leaves thinking it's going over, but it rattles the crossbar.
52 Cohen penalised for handball 35 yards out in central position.
51 Cohen surges forward but his lay-off to Lee isn't the best.
50 Lescott is still warming up
49 Toure receiving treatment on right ankle. He's making his way to the touchline, but he's back on again. Joleon Lescott was warming up hopefully.
48 Ricketts floats a free-kick into the area. Knight injured and is clutching his back, but he's soon up on his feet again. Toure also injured.
47 Mistake from Bridge, who makes up for his error by cutting out Elmander's low cross.
46 City get the second half under way.
Don't know whether to believe this one! "The guy from Minnesota is dreaming! City will win easily, no repeat of the last game between us this time." Stephen Heywood, Sys Op, MIS in Alaska
Colin Sansom is in New Zealand and is crowing about the weather. He writes: "Morning from a sunny and warm New Zealand. (You can keep your cold weather - I emigrated from the UK to get away from the cold winters and traffic). Both sides need the points for different reasons so it will be a tight encounter. My prediction: Man City 1 Bolton 1" Still on course Colin.
Paul Davidson is a Man United fan and he has a very serious question to ask. "What's had 34 MoTs and never been driven? City's open top bus."
American crazy tonight! Here's one from Douglas, who writes: "Been here for three years now and in light of the fact I'm a huge Liverpool fan, I can see Bolton doing the dirty on Man City tonight with Wilshere leading the way. Shame Klasnic is injured really, I'd see him scoring against City. Come on Bolton and do me a favour!" You never know Douglas.
Mike, from California, has more important things to consider. "As a Liverpool supporter I would love to see a Bolton win, but I am torn because Tevez is the captain of my fantasy team. Any chance of a high-scoring match with Tevez bagging a hat-trick but Bolton running out 4-3 winners?" I'll do my best Mike.
Tomer Friedman writes: "I'm going for a 3-1 win for Man City with Kevin Davies scoring, but I think he should play in central attack, not on the right wing. For City a brace from Tevez and one from Adebayor." That's looking a good shout Tomer.
Here are the e-mails I got before the match kicked off. Sibbo writes: "I think Bolton will win 3-2. Tevez will score two and Wilshere, Lee and Elmander will score for Bolton." Could still happen!
Michael Jones blows for half-time. Bolton are certainly not out of this game and are playing some good football at times. Lee looks a menace and Steinsson enjoys getting down the right. City's main threat is coming from Johnson, so Bolton boss Owen Coyle will have to do something in the second half to cut out the supply line.
45 + 1 Davies runs over the ball and Cohen shoots straight into the wall. Wasted chance for the Trotters.
45 Free-kick to Bolton in a central position 19 yards out. Handball by Barry.
44 Toure gets in a good sliding tackle to keep out Elmander.
43 Johnson is tormenting Robinson down the right flank
42 Long throw from Steinsson is allowed to bounce across the box. The ball lands at the feet of Wilshere, whose shot lacks power.
41 Tevez is checked by Muamba. Free-kick.
40 Johnson too fast for Robinson, sends in a superb cross which is coolly chested to Jaaskelainen by Knight.
39 End to end stuff now. Should be more goals in this match.
38 Adebayor wastes a great chance after a mistake by Ricketts. Clean through but drags shot wide.
37 Fabrice Muamba forces a good save from Given with a shot which takes a deflection off Kompany. Muamba gets the ball just outside the box from the corner but shots hopelessly over.
36 Johnson sends in another great cross which is cleared for a throw-in. Zabaleta then flings the ball in but the danger is cleared.
35 Bolton appeal for a penalty as Toure tangles with Toure. The referee blows his whistle and penalises Elmander, who is furious. Lucky escape for City.
34 Vieira gets in a tangle in his own area as Lee makes a nuisance of himself.
33 Johnson very lively now, looks a good signing.
32 That was tough luck on Bolton, who were looking the better team.
31 GOAL TEVEZ! The Argentinian gets lucky as he blasts it down the centre, but Jaaskelainen stays on his line. However, the ball squirms over the line.
30 Johnson waltzes past Wilshere, gets to the byline and is fouled by Robinson.
29 After a bright start City are starting to look short of ideas.
28 City winger Johnson skips past Robinson and lasy the ball off for Adebayor, who is offside. At the other end Elmander wastes the chance to send in a good cross from the left and it drifts straight to Given.
27 Steinsson gets in a good deep cross from near the right by-line and again Toure clears with a header. Bolton playing well.
26 Stats show that Bolton have had 61% possession in the last 10 minutes.
25 A spot of head tennis breaks out in the middle of the pitch.
24 Wilshere swings in free-kick which is headed out by Toure.
23 Lee draws a foul from Bridge on the right after poor control from Vincent Kompany.
22 Another good cross from Bridge, but again Knight heads clear.
21 Lee Chung-Yong takes it, but it's too close to Shay Given, who bizarrely decides to punch the ball clear instead of simply catching it.
20 Jack Wilshere becoming more influential and he draws a foul 30 yards out. Free-kick to Bolton.
19 Good spell from Bolton which all started from Sam Ricketts shrugging off Adebayor.
18 Tamir Cohen goes on a fruitless diagonal run into the left side of the box but is dispossessed.
16 First chance to Bolton as Johan Elmander latches on to a nod-down from Kevin davies but drags his 25-yard shot about a yard wide of the right-hand post.
15 Camera pans to Joleon Lescott having a laugh with Nedum Onuoha.
14 Ball goes out for a corner and then another, but the third one is adjudged to have gone out of play. Goalkick.
13 Gareth Barry nearly finishes off a flowing right-to-left move involving Adebayor and Tevez, but Jaaskelainen saves at near post for a corner.
12 City slowing the pace down again.
11 Pass to Adebayor is just the wrong side of the striker and the ball runs out of play.
10 Patrick Vieira plays ball out wide to Zabaleta, but a crunching tackle from Paul Robinson ends that move.
9 Bolton really struggling to get a foothold in this game.
8 Long ball from the back from Kolo Toure. but Adebayor is offside.
7 The ball reaches Johnson on the left and his cross deflects into the path of Adebayor, whose overhead kick misses the target.
6 First attack down the right as Pablo Zabaleta crosses for Adebayor.
5 Great move by City. Bridge plays ball into the box which is brilliantly controlled by Adam Johnson, who pulls the ball back for Emmanuel Adebayor. The Togo striker leaves it for Carlos Tevez, who gets no pace on his shot.
4 Again Bridge gets in another cross but Zat Knight heads clear.
3 Wayne Bridge finds space down the left and sends in a searching cross which has Jussi Jaaskelainen flapping. Gretar Steinsson could have done better with his clearance.
2 Steady start from City, who are playing it across the middle for the time being.
1 Bolton get the game under way.
Love it when we get e-mails from far and wide and here's one from Jeff Jiovanazzo, who lives in Minnesota. He writes: "Greetings from the USA. I'd like Bolton to shock the City faithful 2-1 with a brace from Kevin Davies." Cheers Jeff.
Farah Arbab reckons it will be "an interesting match", but wants me to make a prediction. I reckon Adebayor might get a couple tonight. Sky Bet are offering 5/1 the striker will score twice. We'll see.
If you fancy a punt on tonight's game, City are well supported to win and are priced at 4/9, although the draw is 3/1, while Owen Coyle's men are 15/2 to pull off a shock win. There's been a shortage of goals in Bolton's recent games, but Sky Bet go 4/6 that there are three or more in the match. Let's hope we get a hatful tonight.
Manchester City are unbeaten at home this season and are looking for a victory which will move them up to fifth place, level on points with Liverpool and with a game in hand. Bolton, on the other hand, are struggling near the bottom, but would move up three places to 14th in the unlikely event of a win at the City of Manchester Stadium. The game was a bit of a classic when the sides met in December as the match ended in a 3-3 draw. Let me know your thoughts about the game by e-mailing warren.barner@bskyb.com

Patrick Vieira and Adam Johnson are handed their first Barclays Premier League starts as Manchester City look to find a winning formula against local rivals Bolton. There is no place for Shaun Wright-Phillips or Stephen Ireland in the Blues line-up. The pair are joined on the bench by £22million defender Joleon Lescott, who has recovered from a knee injury. On-loan teenager Jack Wilshere is in the Bolton starting line-up as the Trotters aim to record their first away win since September.
Evening all and welcome to the live clockwatch for the clash between Manchester City and Bolton. Interesting team news coming up in a minute or two!
