FT: Watford 0 Tottenham 1

Thanks for your emails and tweets - hope you enjoyed the game.

Full TimeFULL-TIME: Watford 0 Spurs 1. The home side battled well and actually had the better of what few chances there were. They will rue Loach's error and Murray's excellent chance.

90+4 Yeates shoots from the free-kick but it's too far out to attempt that kind of thing and Cudicini saves.

90+3 Free-kick to Watford. Last chance.

90+3 Watford are pumping balls into the box but Kaboul is dealing with it comfortably enough at the moment.

Substitution90+2 Adebayor is coming off to be replaced by Pavlyuchenko.

90 There will be three minutes of added time.

Yellow Card89 Ugly challenge from Hodson on Lennon earns a yellow card.

88 Watford are dominating but don't seem to be able to find an opening.

87 Lennon finds van der Vaart in the area who lays the ball back to Parker. His effort is parried clear by Loach.

85 Pienaar loses the ball and it's only Kaboul's stretched leg that stops Whichelow running through this time.

84 Spurs seem to be inviting pressure now. Yeates puts another ball into the box from the left but Kaboul does well to head clear.

83 Excellent skill from Deeney finds Hodson who has got the run on Lennon down the right but his cross under pressure flies over the bar.

82 Sordell cuts the ball back to Yeates who strikes the ball cleanly from 10 yards but his effort is blocked by Dawson, who didn't know much about it.

Substitution80 Pienaar is on for Defoe.

Substitution80 Garner is replaced by Whichelow.

79 Chance! Yeates puts the ball in from the right. Nosworthy and Deeney both have a chance to fire the ball home from eight yards out but the first effort is tame and the second is blocked.

79 I don't think Kaboul liked being embarrassed Sordell. He's clattered into him now to give away a silly free-kick.

78 Van der Vaart muscled out of the ball again. Spurs can't seem to get hold of the ball as easily in the second half.

77 Yeates' corner from the right is headed wide left by Garner.

76 Deeney finds Sordell, who sells an outrageous dummy to Kaboul to win the corner.

75 It's all Watford now as Garner fires the ball over the stand. Spurs seem happy to play on the break.

74 Passed effort from Buaben from 20 yards out is saved comfortably by Cudicini.

73 Sordell seems to have got away from Livermore but his hooked challenge from behind is ruled to be legitimate. Crowd unimpressed.

72 Sordell in the right channel gets into the area but cannot quite find Buaben with the cut back.

70 The corner comes in and the ball is headed onto the post by Eustace! Spurs are rocking a bit.

69 Deeney's effort from a central position just outside the area is skewed wide on the half-volley. Now Cudicini has to put a lofted ball out for a corner. Good pressure from Watford.

68 Yeates' first job is to take the corner, which is cleared from near the goal line.

Substitution68 Yeates replaces Murray.

67 Again Spurs are slack in their own half. Rose loses it and Sordell's effort is deflected for a corner.

66 Lovely turn from Lennon feeds van der Vaart running through on goal but he is crowded out.

65 Chance! Spurs break and Defoe finds Lennon who cuts it back to van der Vaart - the man who started the move - and the Dutchman fires a left-footed effort that cannons off the woodwork.

64 Parker gives the ball away this time and it is only the quick thinking of Kaboul that prevent Watford getting in. Sloppy.

62 Good play from Watford down the left but Walker does well when pursued by two men.

61 Watford still working hard but it's difficult to see them getting an easier chance than the one Murray had earlier. They are battling for the ball in midfield though.

60 Adebayor again loses the ball in a dangerous position just 30 yards from his own goal but Livermore does well to snuff out the danger.

58 Casual flick from Adebayor allows Watford to break. Sordell delays waiting for help and Parker tackles him. Needed support there.

57 Spurs camped inside Watford's half now, just waiting for an opening.

56 Rose shoots the ball across the box but there is no contact from anyone and it sails through for a throw-in.

55 Excellent passing football finds Lennon who cuts the ball back to van der Vaart but his chipped cross is blocked.

54 Plenty of Spurs possession now.

53 Chance! Rose crosses from the left and finds the head of Walker at the far post but Loach tips the ball over, albeit unconvincingly.

52 Deadball chance for van der Vaart from 25 yards out but he misses at the near post.

51 Redknapp clearly is after more width in this second half but Lennon hasn't really got into it yet.

49 Chance! Murray is clean through in the left channel and tries to guide the ball into the corner. Cudicini may have got a touch as it hits the post and Deeney can only put the rebound wide. Wonderful chance for the teenager Murray.

49 Corner for Watford. Murray finds Eustace who does well to find space but his left-footed effort goes over.

48 Foul by Parker on Eustace near the centre-circle.

47 Sordell's cross is cleared by Dawson. The ball breaks off referee Foy into the path of Buaben but his left-footed shot fires over.

46 Spurs get us back underway.

Substitution Spurs change. Lennon is on for Modric.

Feedback Mal says: "Spurs should grind this one out now, but I have some doubts after Man City - that was a game Spurs should have taken something from, but they failed. They're close to what they need to be but even as a life-long fan, I'm riddled with the fear that they'll be found wanting at the vital moment. The fixtures over the next four weeks will the true test - we'll see what happens!!!"

Feedback Charlie Souster says: "I don't think that Watford are out of this one yet, I'm going for a Marvin Sordell goal to level things up and a replay at White Hart Lane for the Hornets."

Feedback Lee Harvey thinks Spurs are missing Gareth Bale. "The constant outlet he provides is sorely missed when he isn't there."

Feedback Yusuf Razak has been in touch on Twitter. "Watford to come back and win 2-1. Come on Watford. Arsenal fan, btw."

Is that game over? Or can Watford come back into this one? Let me know your thoughts on email at adam.bate@bskyb.com or tweet me @ghostgoal.

Half TimeHALF-TIME: The whistle blows for half-time and Spurs go in with a one goal lead. They have dominated possession without creating a chance worthy of the name. Van der Vaart's shot was on target but should have been saved. Watford have worked hard without looking too threatening but you do fear for them now.

45+1 There will be one minute of added time.

45 That seems to have deflated Watford now. Spurs playing keep ball.

Hodson crossed from the right and caused confusion in the Spurs box but the ball broke and the visitors finally had some space to work with. Van der Vaart's effort from outside the box looked speculative but the ball bounced just in front of Loach and the keeper appeared to dive under it. Poor work from the Watford man - it's pretty much the first thing he has had to do.

Goal42 GOAL FOR SPURS! Rafael van der Vaart.

41 Modric feeds the ball into van der Vaart on the edge of the box but he is closed down immediately. Watford defending very narrow and it's working at the moment.

40 Parker again looks forward and has no width so ends up running down a blind alley. Pattern seems to have been established for this game.

39 Another Tottenham move breaks down and Garner nearly finds Doyley on the left but Walker does well to shepherd the ball out for a goal kick.

37 Parker and Modric still neat and tidy in the centre. They are not finding the strikers though and van der Vaart is struggling to get on the ball.

36 Dawson resorts to a long ball and it is cut out. Spurs running out of ideas here.

35 Bit of possession for Watford now and they find Buaben in space on the edge of the box. His shot is tame and wide, however.

34 Sordell has a run at Dawson and is one-on-one with the defender but the England man blocks the shot well.

32 Sordell on the break attempts to put Murray through down the left channel but his pass skids off the turf and is out for a goal kick.

31 Lots of possession for Spurs and the ball eventually comes out to Rose and the full-back is fouled. Van der Vaart is over the kick but his cross is cleared.

29 Adebayor and van der Vaart combine to feed Defoe on the edge of the box but the ball doesn't quite sit for him and he can only fire at Loach.

28 Modric again trying to pull the strings but cannot find a way through this well-organised Watford midfield.

27 Murray's cross from the deadball is too high and cleared at the back post.

26 Garner in space again in the right channel and Livermore has to bundle him to the floor. Free-kick to Watford in a dangerous spot.

25 Deeney with the cross from the right this time and Garner gets to the ball first only to completely mishit his shot from the corner of the six yard box. Good chance.

24 Doyley's deflected cross from the left comes out to Hodson but he is put off as he strikes from outside the box and the ball trickles wide for a goal kick.

23 Slow build-up from Spurs and Rose's cross along the ground nearly finds Defoe but the striker falls to the floor on the turn.

22 Again Watford try to build down the right but Hodson's cross is just too high. There isn't much help for Rose on Spurs' left flank.

21 Modric breaks and finds van der Vaart. The Dutchman attempts an ambitious cross-field ball to Defoe but it's a little too strong and out for a goal kick once more.

19 Walker on an explosive run down the flank but he overruns the ball and that's a goal kick.

18 Modric coming very deep to get the ball as Spurs build again.

17 Spurs are just not getting the time they want here. Sordell is nearly through again but Walker recovers well.

16 A nice passage of play from Watford and the ball eventually comes to Buaben 25 yards out. The midfielder fires a shot just wide. Good stuff from the Hornets.

15 Chance! Deeney's near post cross from the right nearly finds Sordell but the forward can't quite divert the ball past Cudicini.

14 Loach comes out to clear with his head as Spurs attempt to play in Defoe.

13 Spurs playing at a slow tempo trying to neutralise the home team's enthusiasm but they are nearly caught in possession again.

12 Rose gets to the byline this time for Spurs but his cross is blocked at the near post.

11 Walker's floated cross is cleared. Spurs might be missing their flying wingers tonight - it's all in front of Watford at the moment.

10 Rose pumps it long but that's not a wise tactic to Defoe. The full-back could be in for a tough night as Watford seem intent on attacking down their right flank.

9 Deeney has space to cross from inside the area but can only loft it in and the ball is cleared as far as Eustace, who volleys over.

8 Modric loses it this time. Watford are pressing well.

7 Good work by Murray and then he fires in a shot that Cudicini can only parry. Encouraging signs for Watford.

6 Nice break by the Championship side though. Sordell runs down the right channel and cuts inside only to fire a weak left-footed shot straight at Cudicini.

5 Watford struggling to get hold of the ball at the moment. Modric enjoying lots of time and space to control the game within the home side's half.

4 Kyle Walker runs down the right but turns inside. Then good work from Modric and van der Vaart nearly finds Adebayor but the striker can't work an opening.

3 First bit of possession for Spurs but Adebayor is muscled out of it. Watford break but Deeney can only kick the ball into touch.

2 Good start by Watford with Eustace making his presence felt. Deeney's cross is then blocked.

1 Watford kick-off and we are up and running. Defoe looks up for this, charging the ball down immediately.

Thanks for your messages. We're about to get underway.

Feedback Charlie says: "As I'm one of these guys who loves to see the lower clubs do well against the big guns, I think there will be a huge upset tonight, I'm going for Watford to win 2-1. Sordell and Garner with Watford's goals, Livermore with Spurs' only goal."

Feedback Josh Edwards is following Spurs from California. "It's obvious who the stronger side are, and the boys will be out to set things straight after the City result," says Josh. "Watford should be ready for an onslaught. 5-0 spurs, VDV with the first, Ade and JD on the scoresheet and either Walker or Rose to pick up a cheeky goal. COYS!"

Feedback Life-long Spurs fan Dave has been in touch from the USA: "I think Spurs will be too strong for Watford. I'm going 3-0 Spurs - Defoe to grab two and Adebayor one. COYS."

Feedback John Wark (not the ex-Liverpool and Ipswich man, I don't think) has got in touch. John says: "Watford will feel the backlash tonight. Spurs will feel aggrieved by the result against City and I'm going for a 5-1 Spurs win with a Defoe hat-trick and an Adebayor brace."

Sky Bet Our friends at Sky Bet have Watford as 13/2 outsiders to win this game. Spurs are 2/5 favourites and the draw is available at 7/2.

Watford have scored more goals than they have conceded in the first half of games this season. However, after the interval, Sean Dyche's men have let in nearly twice as many as they have netted. That's an ominous sign for the Hornets - you sense they'll need to get at Spurs early tonight.

There should be a good atmosphere at Vicarage Road. The visitors may have one eye on their Premier League game against Wigan on Tuesday and Harry Redknapp could certainly be forgiven for having his mind on other matters.

The referee for the game is Christopher Foy.

Watford: Loach, Hodson, Eustace, Mariappa, Deeney, Doyley, Buaben, Sordell, Murray, Garner, Nosworthy.

Tottenham: Cudicini; Walker, Kaboul, Dawson, Rose; Parker, Livermore, Modric; van der Vaart; Defoe, Adebayor.
