FT: Brighton 1 Newcastle 0

Thanks for all your comments today folks. Don't forget, you can always email Raz...that's me! at razwan.mirza@bskyb.com or better still, follow me on Twitter @RazMirza and send me your thoughts and I'll hopefully speak to you all again very soon. Bye for now!

Full TimeFULL TIME: Championship side Brighton have knocked Premier League Newcastle out of the FA Cup. A memorable moment for the soaring Seagulls! They're into the fifth round of the competition for the second season in a row. The only goal of the game arrived late on. Will Buckley's shot was deflected into his own net by the unfortunate Mike Williamson.

90+5 Newcastle launch the ball forward but Gordon Greer heads away.

90+4 Brighton are on the brink here! What a shock this will be if they hold on.

90+3 Albion have the ball and win a throw deep in Newcastle territory. Cabaye is down injured as Gutierrez pulls down Barnes.

90+2 Replays show that Ashley Barnes' certainly handled the ball from Cabaye's shot. Brighton have possession!

Substitution90+1 SUBSTITUTION: Craig Mackail-Smith is replaced by Will Hoskins.

90 There will be FOUR minutes of stoppage time!

89 Shane Ferguson sticks in a deep cross but it's headed out but back come the Magpies.

88 Best goes on a fine run and sets up Yohan Cabaye whose shot is blocked by a hand...so they claim, by Ashley Barnes.

87 Brighton win a corner and Ryan Harley's inswinger is hacked away.

85 Newcastle must try and force the play which could allow Brighton to hit them on the counter-attack.

Feedback84 Allan says: "To late pardew the horse has already bolted, reprecusions after another inept display."

82 Brighton are playing very deep now encouraging Newcastle to come forward.

Substitution81 SUBSTITUTIONS: All three changes by Alan Padrew then as Danny Guthrie, Davide Santon and Hatem Ben Arfa are replaced by Shane Ferguson, Dan Gosling and Ryan Taylor.

79 Ryan Harley delivers a corner from the left and the Magpies clear, but they're under pressure now with the clock ticking.

78 And the rampaging Will Buckley very nearly grabs another, but decides against shooting and turns away from goal!

77 Alan Pardew is preparing changes now. Brighton beat Newcastle in cup competition back in 1986 and they're on course to do it again!

Wow..The shock is on!! Will Buckley wins the ball deep in his own half before getting away from Yohan Cabaye and his attempted shot takes a heavy deflection off Mike Williamson looping over Tim Krul into the back of the net.

Goal76 GOAL: Brighton 1 (Mike Williamson Og 76) Newcastle 0.

Feedback75 Sam wants Alan Pardew to makes some changes: "Would love to see Obertan come on and inject some pace into this match like." He is on the bench Sam, but Pardew hasn't made any changes as yet. Maybe a bit surprising. He's also got Peter Lovenkrands, Dan Gosling and Ryan Taylor - all decent players to choose from.

Feedback73 Alan Tweets: "1-0 Toon army , Williamson header!! Get on it!!"

72 Yohan Cabaye and Will Buckley clash for the ball and this time nothing is given.

Feedback71 Reuben Tweets: "Brighton to win. Come on you Seagulls."

70 CHANCE ALBION! Great first touch by Craig Mackail-Smith before lashing a fierce drive straight at Tim Krul, who parries the shot away.

Feedback68 Allan rates the Albion keeper. He says: "Brezovan used to be between the sticks for Swindon (where I live) Decent keeper!" Yep, the Slovak has had a decent enough game today Allan.

Feedback67 Richard is back in touch: "Going back onto the previous point about let's beat the Geordies..well Newcastle are in the premier League and Brighton are in the championship. Also Newcastle have got more experience in the FA Cup I think."

66 I just wonder if the FA will take another look at that incident involving Yohan Cabaye!

Substitution65 SUBSTITUTION: Jake Forster-Caskey is replaced by Ryan Harley as Brighton make their second change of the evening.

63 Yohan Cabaye seems to have lashed out with his feet at Adam El-Abd. The referee is having words with his assistant.

62 Hatem Ben Arfa claims he is felled from behind which gives the home supporters more reason to slate the Frenchman as they feel he's taken a dive.

Feedback60 Wayne is optimisic: "Newcastle all day long were walk into the 5th round with a 2-0 win today. 1-0 if we're unlucky. We have a good squad now let's give our Senegalese strikers something to make them stay a partnership and take the Premier League by storm..Howay!"

59 Hatem Ben Arfa shows Brighton a trick or two before failing to find Shola Ameobi in the box.

Yellow Card58 YELLOW CARD: Danny Simpson is booked for a poor challenge on Craig Mackail-Smith and both benches get involved...in fact just Albion assistant manager Mauricio Taricco as Gus Poyet watches on.

Feedback56 Dave reckons a shock could be on the cards. He Tweets: "If Brighton stay focused and keep their heads together, they should nail the Geordies 1-0."

55 Yohan Cabaye finds space on the edge of the box but his low drive is well collected by Brezovan.

54 Suddenly the game has come to life in that moment of madness and the Toon following is more hopeful now.

53 THREE QUICK CHANCES FOR NEWCASTLE! Leon Best gets away but his shot is blocked and then Danny Guthrie's effort is deflected over the crossbar and from the corner Shola Ameobi's shot is well parried away by the busy Slovak stopper Peter Brezovan.

Feedback51 Indie Tweets me: "I'd take a draw right now!! Take them back to St James' and beat them there." Yep, that might have been the game plan from the start I fear Indie.

50 Will Buckley and Craig Mackail-Smith combine before the former appeals for a penalty. Nothing doing I'm affraid!

Feedback49 Meanwhile, Danny says: "I'm a Toon fan but think we are really threatened by Mckail-Smith! Quality player! Would look good in our squad!" Yep, he's been decent Danny, no doubt about that!

Feedback48 Neil Tweets me to say: "The Toon Army will stand tall and win today! More depth to squad than in recent years."

47 Ashley Barnes goes to ground awkwardly although he quickly gets to his feet.

Substitution46 SUBSTITUTION: Brighton make a change at the start of the second half. Alan Navarro comes on to replace Matt Sparrow.

Feedback1820 Sumeet asks: "Raz, who do u think was the better side in the first half mate." Honestly...probably Newcastle, by a whisker, although they were both as bad as each other!

Feedback1819 Eleven-year old Harry says: "I think that Mackail-Smiths's form this season will mean he will almost certainly put one in the back of the net."

Feedback1818 Richard says: "I reckon the score is going to be 1-0 Newcastle."

Feedback1817 Allan writes: "I Would rather have 10 per cent possesion and be 1-0 up rather than dominate and fall behind to a counter attack. Please not Stevenage all over again, pick it up Toon."

Sky Bet1809 Brighton are now 3/1 to claim victory with SKY BET, who make Newcastle 5/4 with the draw 6/4. My pre-match prediction of 2-2, which was 14/1 is now 33/1....worth a punt you think fans? Head now to www.skybet.com to place your bets.

1805 If you'd like to air your views during the second half folks, email Raz...that's me! at razwan.mirza@bskyb.com or Tweet me @RazMirza and I'll publish a many as I can.

Half TimeHALF TIME: No goals and very few chances at a packed Amex Stadium. There's not been much to seperate these sides. Leon Best has wasted the best opportunities while Will Buckley and Craig Mackail-Smith have looked lively for the hosts. Let's hope for better in the second half.

45 That is until a sloppy pass allows Craig Mackail-Smith to find a gap down the middle, but he is quickly crowded out although he does get his right-foot shot away which fails to trouble Tim Krul. Just the one added minute of stoppage time.

43 It's not happening in the final third for either side it has to be said! It's been a very poor half...

Feedback42 Tommy, a Brighton fan has Tweeted me to say: "Got Ashley Barnes to score first and Brighton to win 1-0 for £200. Come on Brighton."

Feedback40 Andrew Tweets: "From what a great start to the season, why so many Toon fans so down on there team, support them!" Maybe it's a sign Andrew. Once you've had success, you want more...

Yellow Card39 YELLOW CARD: Matt Sparrow makes a rash tackle on Yohan Cabaye with his feet above the ball. Easy decision for referee Lee Probert!

38 Good pressure from Newcastle forcing Albion into conceding a throw.

Feedback37 Tom says: "Think Brighton will take this to a re-play with a 1-1 draw Buckley and Ben arfa scoring."

Feedback36 Oliver Tweets me: "Should win this 2 or 3 nil with Ben Arfa in the side, but we're awful in the FA Cup so i'd probably take a 93rd minute Best goal."

35 CHANCE FOR SIMPSON! Hatem Ben Arfa

picks out full-back Danny Simpson with a delightful pass but he fails to make the most of his opportunity although he does win a corner which Ben Arfa wastes.

33 Jake Forster-Caskey wins a free-kick deep in his own half but the long ball is collected by Tim Krul.

32 Will Buckley is finding space and always looking for the ball as he picks out Jake Forster-Caskey in space but his attempted effort on goal is poor.

31 BRIGHTON CHANCE! Peter Brezovan's quick throw sets Albion on the counter which ends at the feet of Craig Mackail-Smith whose shot fizzes past the far post.

30 Nice possession by Newcastle and Shola Ameobi firstly wins a header before attempting a solo run to win the corner. Well played the big man!

29 Good play by Will Buckley who escapes the attentions of Davide Santon but his cross is collected by the diving Tim Krul and all of a sudden the atmposhere picks up once more.

Feedback27 Jamie Tweets me to say: "Im predicting a tight game with lots of cup spirit, 3-2 to Newcastle." If only Jamie....

26 Don't worry fans, you haven't missed anything because nothing has really happened. We're all waiting for somebody to lighten up this rather drab game!

Feedback25 Ben Tweets to say: "Want Newcastle to win, gut feeling an upset is on the cards though because without Coloccini our defence might be lacking quality."

24 No pressure on the ball by Brighton thus far and Newcastle are quite happy to dictate the tempo as Gordon Greer hacks clear for the Seagulls.

Feedback23 Jared Tweets me to say: "Captain Shola and Best to score. 2-0."

22 Jonas Gutierrez surges forward and finds Best whose shot it well blocked. The atmosphere has been lost somewhat due to the Magpies control of the ball. Is their Premier League class telling already?

21 Best attempts a trick or two on the edge of the area before Albion clear. Newcastle have had plenty of early possession!

Feedback20 Allan's got the stat books out. He says: "16 Appearences, 20 shots 7 on target. Not good enough Bestie."

Feedback19 Nick reckons Ben Arfa is the key for Newcastle today. "He makes things happen going forward. Should be more than a handful for Championship defenders."

18 Nice work from Davide Santon to set up Danny Guthrie on the edge of the box but his side-footed effort flies well over the crossbar.

Feedback17 Dean writes in to say: "Newcastle will dominate today and Shola Ameobi will be instrumental. A 3-1 newcastle win."

16 Some negative thoughts from Newcastle fans as Will Buckley makes a surging run forward before losing out.

Feedback15 James is also worried about the Toon defence: "Avid Newcastle fan, but I am worried today...short in defensive confidence after Fulham faltering performance and with Coloccini out...I am concerned we will struggle! We need strikers to win the match...which means goals! I l predict Toon will falter and go down 2 or 3-1 I hate to say!"

Feedback14 Hello again Allan...you've got plenty to say today haven't you! He writes: "I just think brighton will chase the ball down all night long. Toon without Colocinni will fall short. I hope they dont as i love the Toon but i have a gut feeling, not 2012 for cup glory. Please prove me wrong NUFC!"

13 ANOTHER CHANCE FOR BEST! Danny Simpson's cross is headed back across goal by Shola Ameobi and Leon Best heads over the crossbar from close-range.

12 CHANCE FOR BEST! The big striker controls a long hopeful ball before sliding his effort just wide of the far post. Very nearly the opening goal of the game for the Republic of Ireland man.

Feedback11 Michael emails me to say: "This will be a tough test for Newcastle today and i reckon the Toon will just shade it 1-2 Best and Ben Arfa c'mon the Magpies!"

10 The Frenchman , who has started 24 of Newcastle's 26 games this season is quickly back up though. A sigh of relief Toon fans!

9 Yohan Cabaye who suffered an injury at QPR last week has twisted his ankle and is in need of some attention.

8 And Barnes tries his luck, but the Magpies wall is in his way and the men in black are able to clear.

7 Ashley Barnes is brought crashing down about 30-yards out and in shooting distance, central.

Feedback6 Sean has written an essay on Newcastle's season. Here's what he said: "Considering the success of Stoke last season, I would say the Toon have a decent shot at making it to at least the Semis. With Liverpool favorites to wrap up the Carling Cup and finish 5th or 6th, Europa qualifiers would likely require a 7th place finish. Relegation safety is all but assured so I understand going after the cup, but I think that with the depth issues NUFC has, finishing 7th is more likely than making the final." Thanks for the assessment Sean!

4 Decent start from the hosts until Jake Forster-Caskey commits a needless foul.

3 The atmosphere is fantastic is has to be said as Craig Mackail-Smith delivers from the right but the Magpies manage to clear their lines.

2 Jake Forster-Caskey is just 17-years-old and he's the son of former Tottenham and Reading midfielder Darren Caskey...remember him?

1 Alan Pardew's men saw off top-flight rivals Blackburn 2-1 at St James' Park in the previous round and as Brighton get the game underway, the Magpies be hoping to be in the hat for the fifth round draw but you can't rule out the Seagulls who are fired up for this encounter.

1712 The Amex is packed to capacity, so let's hope for a 'proper cup tie' as I like to call it.

1708 We're minutes away from kick-off, so keep those comments coming folks. Email Raz...that's me! at razwan.mirza@bskyb.com or Tweet me @RazMirza and I'll publish a many as I can.

Feedback1704 Sam is much more optimistic than Allan Tweeting me to say: "I'm going for a 3-0 Newcastle win with Ben Arfa getting two and Best getting the other."

Feedback1702 Allan is first to write in today and he says: "Hoping the Toon will win,but have a gut feeling we will go out!" Wow, big surprise considering you've got got quite a strong line-up today Allan...any reason why you think that?

1701 Brighton also make just the one change with Adam El-Abd replacing injured full-back Marcos Painter.

1700 Newcastle skipper Fabricio Coloccini is ruled out of this fourth-round clash at Brighton. The Argentinian defender fails to recover from a groin injury so James Perch steps into the back four while Shola Ameobi takes the armband. It is the only alteration from the team beaten 5-2 at Fulham last week.

1658 BRIGHTON: Brezovan, Greer, Dunk, El-Abd, Barnes, Sparrow, Mackail-Smith, Calderon, Bridcutt, Buckley, Forster-Caskey. SUBS: Ankergren, Hoskins, Navarro, Harley, Vincelot, Agdestein, Hall.

1658 NEWCASTLE: Krul, Santon, Cabaye, Simpson, Williamson, Guthrie, Ben Arfa, Perch, Gutierrez, Best, Shola Ameobi. SUBS: Elliot, Lovenkrands, Gosling, Ryan Taylor, Obertan, Ferguson, Kadar.

1657 REFEREE: Lee Probert (Wiltshire).

1657 Here come the teams...

Sky Bet1656 Brighton are 11/4 to claim victory with SKY BET, who make Newcastle Evens with the draw 12/5. Albion's Craig Mackail-Smith and Ashley Barnes are both 7/1 to score the first goal of the game. Meanwhile, the Magpies' Leon Best is 5/1 while Hatem Ben Arfa is an 8/1 shot. Yohan Cabaye to bag a brace is a 20/1 shout. I'm going for a pre-match prediction of 2-2, which is 14/1. Head now to www.skybet.com to place your bets.

1655 Let's have a quick look at the betting ahead of this game...

1654 Danny Guthrie is also convinced Pardew's love for the FA Cup will see Newcastle mount a genuine challenge for glory this season. He said: "The manager really likes the competition, he has always put strong teams out. He took West Ham to the final and nearly won it, so he does like that competition." Do you Toon fans think you've got a realistic chance of winning the cup or do you feel your side should be concentrating on the Premier League instead? Email Raz...that's me! at razwan.mirza@bskyb.com or Tweet me @RazMirza and I'll publish a many as I can.

1652 And on the game, he said: "It is a tough game. They have got some really good players. They pass it and they are patient and you have to admire that. It's hard to do it in the Championship and get success, but they are making a good fist of it."

1651 Magpies boss Alan Pardew admits the FA Cup gives him a real buzz and a different challenge to the one presented weekly by the Premier League. He said: "It does. The passion that comes around a cup game - they are those one-off occasions when anything can happen. There are no points to play for, it is just purely being in the hat for the next game, and that's the most important thing for us in this particular fixture, to be in the hat for the next round."

1650 The Magpies were famously humbled by Ronnie Radford's non-league Hereford 40 years ago....who can forget that moment! I'm sure you Toon fans can! Anyway, Gus Poyet's Championship side will go into the game confident of causing another shock!

1648 Gus Poyet's side have also hit a good run of form in the past few weeks, having won three straight Championship games to boost their play-off hopes.

1645 The Seagulls needed a replay and then penalties to overcome non-league Wrexham in the third round but will now be relishing their status as underdogs against the Magpies this evening.

1641 If you'd like to air your views before or during the match, email Raz...that's me! at razwan.mirza@bskyb.com or Tweet me @RazMirza and I'll publish a many as I can.
