Yakubu: Scored midweek winner

West Ham United will be seeking revenge when Everton visit Upton Park for the second time in a week.

Yakubu Aiyegbeni's late goal, after a defensive mix-up, secured Everton a 2-1 win over the Hammers in the Carling Cup quarter-final on Wednesday night.

The Hammers had taken the lead in that game through Carlton Cole, but the striker is among several players doubtful for Alan Curbishley's side.

Curbishley has bemoaned his lack of striking options, with both Bobby Zamora and Craig Bellamy injured, and Cole struggling with a hip problem.

Dean Ashton is likely to lead the line, while Henri Camara could provide attacking support after being cup-tied in midweek.

Nolberto Solano is available again after also being cup-tied and he is pushing Freddie Ljungberg for a spot on the right of midfield.

West Ham also have worries on the left, with Matthew Etherington carrying a groin injury and Luis Boa Morte a thigh problem.

Lee Bowyer is out with a hernia injury and Julien Faubert is not quite ready to make his Hammers debut after an Achilles injury.

Everton news

The midweek cup win stretched Everton's unbeaten run to 11 games in all competitions, leaving David Moyes with a decision over whether to stick with the same team.

Joleon Lescott played at left-back on Wednesday, with Leighton Baines out for up to six weeks with a hamstring, but he could revert to centre-half.

Both Tony Hibbert and Nuno Valente are in contention to feature and could return in the full-back positions.

That would enable Lescott to partner Joseph Yobo in the centre, with Alan Stubbs still missing with a calf complaint.

Captain Phil Neville could then move back into midfield, with Moyes having plenty of options at his disposal.

Yakubu is in fine form at present, meaning the likes of James McFadden, Andy Johnson, Victor Anichebe and James Vaughan are all having to wait to make an impact.
