Torres in action against Reading earlier this season
Liverpool return to Premier League action against Reading at Anfield after their midweek European heroics.
The Reds are currently the form team in the league having won their last four games and they will be aiming to pile the pressure on Everton in the race to finish fourth.
Liverpool will also be hoping to gain revenge on Reading after the Royals inflicted the first defeat of the season on the Reds in December.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez has shown in recent weeks he is a little less inclined to use his rotation system, but he could well decide to rest some of his stars.
Xabi Alonso is available again after he missed Tuesday's victory over Internazionale to be at the birth of his first son.
Top scorer Fernando Torres is expected to start as he goes in search of his 20th Premier League goal.
Steve Finnan remains doubtful as he struggles to shake off a hamstring problem otherwise Benitez has no other injury worries to contend with.
Emerse Fae is ruled out again as he continues his recovery from malaria and winger Glen Little is still a way off from returning.
Royals skipper Graeme Murty has failed to recover in time from the knee injury which forced him to miss last weekend's win over Manchester City.
Shane Long is set to keep his place in attack after scoring against City, while Dave Kitson is pushing for a starting spot after coming off the bench to net in the 2-0 win over City.
