Several Luton players will make their final appearance for the club as they round off a forgettable campaign at home to Huddersfield.

Hatters boss Mick Harford has wielded the axe following their relegation from League One in a bid to slash the club's crippling wage bill and usher in a new era at Kenilworth Road.

Veterans Don Hutchison and Paul Peschisolido will be released, while midfielder Steve Robinson, goalkeeper Marlon Beresford, defenders Alan Goodall and Richard Jackson and forward Paul McVeigh have all been offered free transfers.

In some rare positive news for the Hatters, who are guaranteed to finish bottom regardless of Saturday's result, Paul Furlong will make a surprise comeback from injury.

Surprise return

It was thought the 39-year-old striker had played his last game for Luton after undergoing surgery on a knee cartilage problem last month but he has been passed fit for the final game of the season.

Ryan Charles (knee) could also return but fellow teenager George Beavan (groin) and Drew Talbot (knee) are both out.

Midfielder Richard Langley has been an unused substitute for the past two games and could feature for the first time since the last day of last season after recovering from a broken leg.

Huddersfield handover

Huddersfield could welcome back striker Phil Jevons after missing the last nine matches due to a calf injury.

Caretaker manager Gerry Murphy will take charge of his last match despite last week's appointment of Stan Ternent and Ronnie Jepson, who will take over during the close season.

The Terriers are currently 12th but could finish the season as high as eighth and Murphy has no new injury or suspension problems to contend with.

Huddersfield are chasing a fourth straight league win under Murphy, who stepped in following Andy Ritchie's departure in the middle of April.
