Ellison: Doubtful for Chester

Kevin Ellison is struggling to be fit for Chester City against a Macclesfield Town side likely to take on a youthful look.

Chester secured their League Two status in midweek by drawing with Stockport - a match Ellison missed with a thigh problem.

He is doubtful for Saturday's visit of Macclesfield, while Nathan Lowndes is definitely out with a back injury.

Tony Grant, Paul Rutherford and John Murphy could all start for Chester depending on whether manager Simon Davies decides to freshen up his team.

Macclesfield news

Visiting manager Keith Alexander will use the game to look at some of the fringe players and younger members of his squad.

Levi Reid is expected to be given a start after Alexander led Macclesfield to safety after taking over in late February.

John Rooney is due to be handed his first-team debut for the club, while Matthew Flynn and Andy Teague are due to be involved.

Defender Ryan Cresswell is still out injured, while Sean Hessey and Terry Dunfield will be rested.
