Shelvey: First to be picked

Jonjo Shelvey will start again for Charlton Athletic as Coventry City look to clinch Championship survival.

Midfielder Shelvey became Charlton's youngest-ever player last week and he will be the first name on the team sheet for Sunday's game, according to manager Alan Pardew.

The Addicks boss can also welcome back Jerome Thomas after a hamstring injury, but Lloyd Sam is out with a thigh complaint.

Darren Ambrose has undergone a groin operation which is likely to keep the midfielder out for the start of pre-season training.

Scott Wagstaff and Grant Basey could be involved against Coventry, but Zheng Zhi will not be risked after a groin injury.

Coventry news

A win would guarantee survival for Coventry, but a point is likely to be enough for Chris Coleman's side.

The Sky Blues boss has an almost full-strength squad to choose from as he looks to avoid the drop into League One.

Leon McKenzie and David McNamee are long-term absentess, but Kevin Thornton has recovered from an ankle knock.

Coventry won 5-1 at Colchester in their last away game and Coleman would relish the chance of a repeat at the Valley.
