Preston v Charlton preview

Preston regulars set to return; Primus not ready

Last updated: 29th August 2008

Preston manager Alan Irvine is set to ring the changes as the Lilywhites aim to maintain their unbeaten Championship start at home to Charlton.

Irvine rested Youl Mawene, Richard Chaplow, Simon Whaley and Barry Nicholson for the midweek Carling Cup tie against Derby after helping Preston to two wins in their opening three games.

And after the Lilywhites went down 1-0 on Tuesday, all are in line to return at the expense of Michael Hart, Darren Carter, Ross Wallace and Karl Hawley.

Chris Brown is likely to remain out due to a bout of sciatica that has kept the striker sidelined so far this season, while Wayne Henderson (back), Liam Chilvers (Achilles) and Neal Trotman (hernia) are still missing.

Ambrose in contention

Charlton will be unable to field new signing Linvoy Primus after arriving on loan from Portsmouth.

The 34-year-old defender rejoined his first club in midweek but is still carrying a groin injury.

The Addicks have also won two of their opening three games and won 4-2 at home to relegated Reading last week.

Midfielder Darren Ambrose could return after boosting his recovery from a hip operation with a late substitute appearance against Reading and a run-out with the reserves in midweek.

Manager Alan Pardew also has defender Kelly Youga available again after serving a one-match ban for his red card in the 1-0 defeat at Watford.

Striker Svetoslav Todorov (knee) is almost match fit after playing for the reserves too, although Therry Racon (metatarsal) and Izale McLeod (knee) remain out.
