Williams: Settled in League One

Colchester go in search of a first win at their new Community Stadium as they host unbeaten Oldham.

The Us endured a shaky start to life back in League One, but have regained their composure and become upwardly mobile.

They face a tough task on Saturday, though, as Oldham are the only side left in the division defending a 100 per cent start to the season.

The Latics have looked formidable in their opening three games, scoring 10 goals en route to the top of the table.

Gillespie sidelined

Colchester will be without striker Steven Gillespie when they welcome the Latics to Essex.

The club's record signing sustained a hamstring injury while scoring against Ipswich in Tuesday night's Carling Cup defeat, although a scan has revealed the problem is not too serious and he could be back next weekend.

Boss Geraint Williams has an otherwise fully-fit squad to choose from.

Full-backs John White (back) and Matt Lockwood (tendinitis) sat out in midweek but will be available for the game.

Centre-half Pat Baldwin made a welcome return to the bench at Portman Road after five months out with a dislocated shoulder and will be in contention once more.

Davies returns

Oldham boss John Sheridan will welcome Craig Davies back into his squad for the trip to Colchester.

Striker Davies missed the midweek Carling Cup defeat to Burnley through suspension but is expected to lead the line for the Latics.

Fellow forward Lee Hughes and goalkeeper Mark Crossley are also expected to return to the side after they were rested against the Championship Clarets.

Meanwhile, midfielder Kieran Lee, who had been struggling with a hamstring injury, will be in contention for a starting berth after he showed no ill-effects from his injury against the Burnley.
