Dave Kitson is in line to make his second debut for Reading against an Ipswich Town side beset by injury worries.

Striker Kitson was a club-record signing for Stoke last summer, but after failing to score has rejoined the Royals on loan until the end of the season.

He was not signed in time to feature in the 2-2 draw with Charlton in midweek, but is in contention to face Ipswich - though the form of Shane Long may restrict him to a place on the bench.

Long scored a brace against the Addicks and should keep his place while Leroy Lita is again facing the prospect of not even making the 16.

Winger Jimmy Kebe missed the midweek match with a slight knee injury and is rated as doubtful so another returning player - Glen Little - should keep his place on the right of midfield.

Ivar Ingimarsson is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury while club captain Graeme Murty is back from his loan spell with Charlton after another calf injury.

Ipswich news

Ipswich boss Jim Magilton has a host of concerns for the trip to the Madejski Stadium, with Jon Walters and Moritz Volz definitely out.

Walters ruptured his ankle ligaments in the goalless draw with Championship leaders Wolves on Tuesday night and will miss the rest of the season.

Pablo Counago or Jon Stead are vying to start alongside Kevin Lisbie as Magilton looks to take advantage of the Royals' poor recent home form.

On-loan full-back Volz has been ruled out for a further month with his groin injury which requires surgery, while Ben Thatcher returned unscathed at Molineux after a foot injury.

Captain Gareth McAuley is back in contention after sitting out a one-match suspension, so Pim Balkestein or Ivan Campo will make way.

Magilton will make late decisions on David Wright and David Norris, who are struggling with ankle and calf injuries respectively.
