Hughes: May be missing key men
Manchester City go in search of a third consecutive victory in the Uefa Cup when they face Paris Saint Germain on Wednesday.
Mark Hughes' men have already disposed of FC Twente and Schalke in the competition so far, leading them to the top of Group A.
The European success has come as a welcome relief to their domestic woes, with the Blues having secured only one win in their last six Premier League outings.
PSG have already made it clear that they view Ligue 1 glory as their No. 1 priority this season and, as such, are expected to rest a number of key men in midweek.
Having clambered into sixth position in the French top-flight, Paul Le Guen is desperate for the capital club to end their 15-year wait for a title.
That represents good news for City, who are likely to be without some of their most influential players at Eastlands.
Brazilian superstar Robinho is struggling with an ankle injury and will not be risked should he fail to convince Hughes of his fitness.
Shaun Wright Phillips is carrying a knee knock and Micah Ricahrds has an ankle complaint.
Both men are facing a race against time to be involved against PSG, but will be given an opportunity to stake a claim for a starting berth.
Meanwhile, Switzerland international midfielder Gelson Fernandes definitely misses out as he is sidelined with a hamstring injury.
With Le Guen set to ring the changes when the Parisians arrive in England a host of fringe players are expected to be given a rare opportunity to shine.
That means the likes of Peguy Luyindula, Fabrice Pancrate, Gregory Bourillon and former Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman should all start.
Experienced former France internationals Claude Makelele and Ludovic Giuly are unlikely to feature, allowing their back-ups to take centre stage.
There are, though, a couple of enforced absentees for PSG.
Midfield dynamo Stephane Sessesgnon hobbled off at the weekend with a thigh complaint and must sit out the City clash, while Clement Chantome is still suffering with a back problem and has been omitted from Le Guen's travelling party.
