Parry: Goodison doubt
Ian Goodison is struggling to be fit for Tranmere, while Southend will be without the suspended Anthony Grant.
Key defender Goodison was forced off with a back injury in the first half of Tranmere's 2-1 defeat at Leyton Orient on Saturday and could miss out.
Shaleum Logan (groin injury) and Gareth Edds (chickenpox) played no part at the weekend and may also remain sidelined.
Caretaker boss Les Parry has been given the green light by chairman Peter Johnson to begin searching for new players as Rovers seek to breathe new life into their fight against relegation.
Grant will serve the first of a two-match ban after picking up his 10th booking in just 20 matches against MK Dons at the weekend.
New loan signing Sean Morrison returns to the squad after serving a one-match suspension following his first-half dismissal against Yeovil on his debut.
Fellow loanee Jean-Yves M'voto is still sidelined after undergoing a hip operation, while Osei Sankofa (knee) is also missing from Southend's defence.
The Shrimpers' last-gasp victory at MK Dons came after back-to-back defeats and they will be keen to pick up the points at struggling Tranmere to get their promotion bid back on track.
