Southampton are sweating on David Connolly's fitness for the game against Wycombe Wanderers, who have two players back.

Experienced striker Connolly missed Saturday's FA Cup win over Northampton with a knock and he is again doubtful, while Marek Saganowski will be sidelined with medial ligament trouble in his knee.

Bartosz Bialkowski will again be in goal as the Polish keeper will deputise for injured No.1 Kelvin Davis, who faces a spell on the sidelines with a groin injury suffered in the win at Hartlepool last Tuesday.

However, manager Alan Pardew will be able to welcome back on-loan duo Neal Trotman and Jacob Mellis after they missed the FA Cup clash.

Youngster Ryan Doble has returned to training after a bout of shin splints, but is unlikely to feature.

Wycombe news

Wycombe boss Gary Waddock could be boosted by the return of Chris Westwood and Matty Bloomfield when his side travel to St Mary's.

Defender Westwood and midfielder Bloomfield both missed the 1-0 win over Brentford last Tuesday with hamstring injuries but could make a speedy return.

Winger Matt Phillips is also close to a return from a muscle strain as the Chairboys look for a third straight win.

However, defender Leon Johnson is beginning a lengthy lay-off after an operation to cure a long-standing hip problem and midfielder Lewis Montrose is also out after surgery on his knee.

A win over the Saints could see Waddock's side climb above Alan Pardew's side to move clear of the relegation zone.
