Southend United expect Sanchez Watt and Jean-Yves Mvoto to be fit to face Charlton Athletic, who have a concern over Deon Burton.

On-loan Arsenal youngster Watt missed the midweek defeat at Norwich due to mild concussion, but he was back in training on Thursday and manager Steve Tilson will make a late decision on his availability.

Fellow loanee Mvoto had to come off after just 27 minutes of the 2-1 defeat at Carrow Road after taking a blow to his eye following a challenge with Norwich skipper Grant Holt, but the defender will be fit to face the Addicks.

Tilson is unlikely to make many changes to his side after an encouraging display against the league leaders which saw them take the lead courtesy of Scott Vernon's strike, only for Oli Johnson to score two late goals for the Canaries.

Midfielder Anthony Grant is around 10 days away from his return from an ankle injury, while Stuart O'Keefe is recovering from hernia surgery.

Charlton news

Charlton boss Phil Parkinson has a doubt over striker Burton for the trip to Roots Hall.

The 33-year-old limped out of Tuesday night's 2-1 defeat to Brighton with a groin injury and is a doubt to face the Shrimpers.

Akpo Sodje replaced Burton and could keep his place in the side, while Leon McKenzie is also pushing for a start.

Defender Frazer Richardson was suffering with a tight groin before the Brighton clash, and despite playing 70 minutes, will be closely monitored before the trip to Essex.

If Richardson is not fit then Jose Semedo and Chris Solly are waiting in the wings after being on the bench in midweek.

Fellow defender Grant Basey remains on the sidelines with ruptured ankle ligaments, so on-loan Johnnie Jackson is likely to continue at left-back.
