Inter Milan and Rubin Kazan face a winner-takes-all showdown in Italy to decide who progresses in the UEFA Champions League.

The duo are locked together on six points in Group F, with Inter currently occupying second place by virtue of having scored in a 1-1 draw when the two teams met in Russia on matchday 2.

With Dynamo Kiev, who play host to group leaders Barcelona, lurking just one point adrift, a draw in Italy coupled with defeat for the European champions would see both Inter and Rubin eliminated.

Victory for either Jose Mourinho's men or Kurban Berdyev's side would mean they are through to the knockout phase, with Barca expected to join them unless they lose by two clear goals in Ukraine.

A draw would be enough for one of the Giuseppe Meazza opponents provided the Spanish side avoid defeat, at which point the scoreline will be vital to determine who progresses.

If the game is goalless or finishes 1-1 then Inter are through, but if the score draw is 2-2 or above, then Rubin will be celebrating by virtue of having scored more goals away from home in their head-to-head showdowns.

The recently-crowned Russian champions' domestic season has now finished and they will be without Roman Sharonov and Aleksandr Bukharov with respective knee and wrist injuries.

Inter are missing Cristian Chivu through suspension while Davide Santon and Ricardo Quaresma will not feature because of knee injuries.

Mourinho's men suffered a rare Serie A defeat at the hands of Juventus on Saturday and have not won at home in the UEFA Champions League since 22nd October last year, when they overcame Anorthosis Famagusta.
