Everton will be desperate to get back to winning ways in the Europa League after a miserable run of continental and domestic form.

David Moyes' men go into their meeting against AEK Athens in Greece having suffered back-to-back defeats at the hands of Group I leaders Benfica, conceding seven goals without reply.

The Toffees' performance in the Premier League is also a concern, with just one victory in their last eight matches to leave them in a relegation scrap, while they have also been knocked out of the Carling Cup.

Moyes can at least take some heart from their previous meeting with Dusan Bajevic's side, who they thrashed 4-0 at Goodison Park in their opening fixture.

Another defeat for AEK would send them out of the competition, while Everton will progress if they secure all three points and Benfica see off BATE Borisov.

Team news

Moyes has been hit with further injuries with defender Joseph Yobo failing to make the trip to Athens due to a hamstring injury which forced him off during Sunday's derby.

Leon Osman, who is nursing a foot injury, also misses out.

Midfielder Jack Rodwell made the trip but is a slight doubt with groin trouble while Lucas Neill and John Heitinga are both ineligible.

AEK's imposing Sweden defender Daniel Majstorovic, who missed the defeat at Goodison due to injury, is back to shore up the Greek side's defence

.

The hosts have minimal injury problems ahead of the contest, with their only absentees being defender Sanel Jahic and on-loan Liverpool forward Krisztian Nemeth, both of whom are nursing minor leg injuries.
