Paul Heffernan is in line to make his Bristol Rovers debut against Walsall, who can call on Troy Deeney.

Doncaster striker Heffernan has joined Paul Trollope's side on an initial month's loan and is expected to be involved on Tuesday night.

Rovers have several injury concerns ahead of their second game against Walsall in the space of four days.

Midfielder Chris Lines was due to go for a scan on Monday to discover the extent of abdominal damage that kept him out of Saturday's goalless draw against the Saddlers.

Lines will definitely not feature against Chris Hutchings' side, while full-back Aaron Lescott also remains sidelined with a hip injury.

Central defender Danny Coles is an absentee once again due to a knee injury, so Steve Elliott, Dominic Blizzard and Mark Wright are set to retain their starting berths.

Pirates boss Trollope also has doubts over defenders Carl Regan (dead leg) and Jeff Hughes (groin), who sustained injuries at the weekend.

Walsall news

Walsall welcome top scorer Deeney back into the fold after he missed Saturday's goalless draw at the Banks's Stadium due to suspension.

However, the striker will go straight back into Hutchings' starting XI for the rearranged clash at the Memorial Stadium.

Otherwise, it is as you were for Hutchings with right-back Rhys Weston (hamstring) and forward Steve Jones (groin) both still out.

The club's first-choice central defensive partnership is again in doubt with Mark Hughes (ankle) and Manny Smith (thigh) unlikely to start as they battle to regain their fitness.

Winger Peter Till took a kick at the weekend but he should be okay for the return clash in Bristol as the Saddlers look to end an eight-match winless streak that stretches back to the start of December - their longest drought of the campaign to date.
