Rangers will welcome Dundee United to Ibrox with their sights on getting to another domestic cup final in their Scottish Cup sixth round tie.

Walter Smith's men have already booked a spot in the final of the Co-op Insurance Cup with a date against St Mirren next Sunday.

And the Gers' quest for a treble winning season hinges on beating a side currently sitting third in the SPL under the stewardship of Peter Houston.

Houston will be hoping his side don't repeat their last performance against the Glasgow giants, who issued a 7-1 thrashing to the Terrors in a league meeting at Sunday's venue.

The three other domestic encounters have all resulted in Rangers victories, and Smith's men are showing formidable form in the league, enjoying a 13-match unbeaten run that has seen pull as many points clear.

United, meanwhile, go into the clash on the back of successive wins, but face a tall order if they are to overcome the current holders.

Rangers news

Madjid Bougherra is expected to return from a hamstring injury to slot in the Gers' back four.

The defender has been sidelined for the last couple of games and, despite failing to finish training on Friday, should be fit for Sunday's game.

Kirk Broadfoot is struggling with a slight hamstring problem and is likely to sit out the quarter-final tie.

United news

United will be missing captain Andy Webster under the terms of his loan agreement from the Ibrox club. Webster will be replaced at the back by Darren Dods.

Left-back Paul Dixon is ruled out with an ankle injury so Sean Dillon will come in to deputise, while Spanish striker Francisco Sandaza will again play a role from the bench.

Scott Robertson (groin), Lee Wilkie (knee) and Danny Cadamarteri (calf) are all long-term absentees.
