Colchester have received a triple fitness boost ahead of the visit of Plymouth in League One.

Goalkeeper Ben Williams (ankle), defender Paul Reid (groin) and summer signing Ben Coker (ankle) all came through 90 minutes of a midweek reserve match following injury lay-offs.

However, manager John Ward is unlikely to make changes following last weekend's win over Walsall meaning Williams, last season's player of the year, will probably be on the bench as cover for Mark Cousins.

Striker Ian Henderson picked up a knock in training on Tuesday but he is expected to be fit.

Fellow forward Steven Gillespie is back in training following an ankle injury but he could do with a reserve outing.

Long-term absentees John-Joe O'Toole and Morten Knudsen (both knee) have started running as they step up their rehabilitation.

Argyle news

Plymouth are monitoring the fitness of skipper Carl Fletcher ahead of their game against Colchester.

The former West Ham midfielder missed last Saturday's defeat against Peterborough with a thigh problem and although he returned to training earlier this week, the Welshman is not certain to be fit.

Central defender Kari Arnason returns after serving a one-match ban following his sending-off at Walsall and is expected to be in the starting line-up.

But midfielder Luke Summerfield will play no part due to a knee problem and New Zealand striker Rory Fallon will be sidelined for the rest of the month after undergoing a hernia operation.

Argyle winger Yannick Bolaise is also expected to miss out once again as he continues his recovery from an ankle operation.
