Fulham boss Roy Hodgson was disappointed his side did not take their chances against a confidence-stricken goal-shy Arsenal side.

Without a win away from home all season, the Cottagers started at the Emirates the better of the two sides with Andy Johnson just missing the target in the first minute of the game.

Early on Johnson had two great chances to put Fulham ahead but dragged his efforts wide of the mark, while Simon Davies also lashed at a half volley to send it over the bar.

Despite frustrating an Arsenal side which saw Robin van Persie hit the post and Mark Schwarzer save well down at his feet from an Abou Diaby header, Hodgson felt his side could have provided a league upset.

"I am just disappointed we didn't win it - our shooting wasn't at its best," said Hodgson.

"When Arsenal got behind us, they tested Schwarzer more than we tested (Manuel) Almunia.

Good draw

"We could have made him make more saves but in general, yes, it's a good draw for us."

Fulham might have rued their missed chances more when Van Persie's second-half header glanced off the post and Andrey Arshavin blasted a late effort into the side netting.

But the former Blackburn boss was pleased with his side's battling and attacking attitude as they continued to counter-attack and not just invite Arsenal onto them for the whole game.

Hodgson added: "We have come here today and got a point - and that wasn't down to a siege mentality.

"As a result, any neutrals would have seen a very entertaining game of football."
