Republic of Ireland Under 21s lost 3-0 to Turkey at Turner's Cross in qualifying for the 2011 European Championship.

Turkey are favourites to win Group One which also contains Georgia, Switzerland, Armenia and Estonia and they underlined that status with a polished display.

The visitors took the lead in the 13th minute when Irish captain Eddie Nolan made a mess of a headed backpass to allow Deniz Yilmaz to fire past Shane Redmond.

Turkey then doubled their lead three minutes before half-time following a scramble in the Ireland 18-yard area at a corner before Ozkan turned and blasted into the roof of the net.

And Don Givens' side suffered further misery in injury time at the end of the match when substitute Sismanoglu glided through the home defence before finishing from close range.
