Hereford were made to pay for their wastefulness in front of goal as Rotherham claimed a 1-0 victory at Edgar Street.

A goal on the stroke of half-time from Paul Warne proved enough for the Millers on Saturday as they recorded their third win in four games in League Two.

Several chances fell Hereford's way in the early stages without any response from Rotherham. Janos Kovacs and Sean Canham were denied by visiting goalkeeper Andy Warrington while James McQuilkin drove narrowly wide from 35 yards.

Rotherham responded with Kevin Ellison drilling a 30-yard free-kick into the arms of Hereford keeper Adam Bartlett. The Millers then went in front against the run of play in the 45th minute when Warne headed past Bartlett from close range after Adam Le Fondre's cross.

Warrington was in action again after the interval with a fine stop to deny Canham as Hereford took up the running again.

Stuart Fleetwood should have equalised in the 68th minute but the former Charlton striker shot wide from eight yards.
