Morecambe v Gillingham preview

Team news ahead of Saturday's League Two clash between Morecambe and Gillingham at the Globe Arena.

Morecambe manager Jim Bentley is boosted by the return of Phil Jevons. The striker served the final game of a three-match suspension as the Shrimps threw away a three-goal lead and drew with Rotherham at the Globe Arena on Tuesday evening. Nick Fenton will miss the encounter, though, after he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against the Millers. The defender will now serve a one-match ban and, subsequently, join midfielder Kevin Ellison - who has a knee injury and is still several weeks from a return - and long-term absentee Paul Scott on the sidelines. Scott is running again following knee surgery but is not set to be back in the first-team picture until after Christmas. Meanwhile, Joe Martin returns to contention as Gillingham travel to fourth-placed Morecambe knowing victory would see them leapfrog their hosts in the table. The defender missed Tuesday's 2-0 defeat at Swindon due to a one-match ban picked up as a result of his dismissal in last weekend's victory over Oxford. Martin, however, is set to be the only addition to the Gills squad who went down at the County Ground in midweek. Midfielder Lewis Montrose serves the second game of his three-match ban for the straight red he was shown last Saturday. Strikers Danny Kedwell (toe), Dennis Oli (hamstring) and Adam Birchall (knee) as well as defender Barry Fuller (knee) and midfielder Danny Spiller (ankle) all remain on the sidelines. Gills travel to the Globe Arena looking to get back to winning ways after defeat on Tuesday ended a run of back-to-back wins, and they will do so against a Morecambe side who have won just one of their last six games.
