An injury time goal from Jack Redshaw denied Russ Wilcox his first win as York boss as Morecambe earned a 1-1 draw.
The Morecambe substitute latched on to a superb Tom Barkhuizen through ball and fired a low finish past Michael Ingham in the York goal. His late strike came as a huge blow for struggling York who looked set for the three points after Michael Coulson fired them ahead in the 76th minute. The visitors took advantage of a poor ball from Alex Kenyon to launch a swift counter attack which ended with Coulson drilling a low shot into the bottom left-hand corner of Barry Roche's goal from the edge of the box. Morecambe had come closest to opening the scoring when Redshaw hit the inside of the post with a shot from the edge of the area before the lively striker curled an effort inches wide of the left-hand post. York were the better team in the first half and dominated for long spells without creating too many chances Ryan Brunt deflected a Marvin McCoy cross into the side netting in the 10th minute of the game and Keith Lowe headed a right-wing cross over from 12 yards.
