Pascali & Russell boost Jefferies' side

Motherwell suffered their fourth defeat on the trot after going down 2-0 to Kilmarnock at Fir Park. Goals from Manuel Pascali and Allan Russell - his first for the club - were enough to give Killie all three points. The defeat leaves Motherwell nervously looking over the shoulders at the wrong end of the table with Mark McGhee's men sitting just three points above basement boys Hamilton. Killie wasted a good chance to break the deadlock on 12 minutes when Donovan Simmonds headed Garry Hay's free-kick straight at Graeme Smith. Soon after Motherwell should have made the breakthrough when John Sutton rounded Alan Combe only to slice his shot wide of the open goal. Kilmarnock suffered a blow on the half hour when Danny Invincibile was stretchered off on a stretcher after falling awkwardly. The visitors grabbed the lead ten minutes before the break when Pascali rose highest to head home Gavin Skelton's corner. Motherwell came out for the second half in determined fashion and they were denied an equaliser by the woodwork just before the hour mark. Chris Porter cut in from the right and flashed in a deflected shot which Combe superbly tipped onto the crossbar. Combe denied Porter again on 67 minutes when he raced off his line to block the striker's shot. Killie put the game beyond Motherwell 13 minutes from time when Allan Russell drilled a low shot past Smith from inside the box.
