Newcastle are plunged deeper into relegation trouble after Liverpool overcome the absence of Suarez with a crushing 6-0 win at St James' Park. Early goals from Agger and Henderson put the visitors on their way to victory in the first game of Suarez's 10-match ban. And Sturridge's second-half double followed by a tap-in from the returning Borini and a Henderson free-kick after Debuchy had been sent off further embarrassed Newcastle. Stay with us for all the post-match reaction.
Coutinho has been my man of the match. The Brazilian had acres of acres of space and exploited it superbly.
Liverpool fans are now ironically cheering when Newcastle manage to play a few passes. The home team are desperate for the final whistle.
Liverpool know this game was won a long time ago and are not too interested in attacking in the remaining few minutes.
This will be a devastating loss for Newcastle amid an ugly atmosphere on Tyneside in the wake of their last defeat by derby rivals Sunderland and they will remain just five points from safety having played a game more than Wigan Athletic and Aston Villa.
Henderson's own eyes light up at the prospect of a hat-trick when the ball drops for him in the penalty area. But Taylor just clears first.
It is almost seven as a Coutinho long-ranger rattles the woodwork after being tipped against the crossbar by a good save from Elliot.
There are now empty seats all around St James' Park. With Newcastle down to 10 men, it could yet get worse. Liverpool look capable of picking off their hosts with every attack.
It is turning into an angry atmosphere at St James' Park. Henderson took the free-kick and curled it to the back post. No-one gets a touch and it drifts inside the far post. Pardew is looking on from the touchline in disbelief. After the derby hammering by Sunderland, he is going to have a tough job explaining this one.
Debuchy is sent off for his second yellow card after clattering Coutinho! Debuchy meant to do that and it was pure frustration. This is a very poor performance from Newcastle, who are losing all their discipline.
Less than a minute after coming on, Borini makes it 5-0 and sparks a mass exodus from Newcastle fans. Downing cut into the box from the right before playing the ball to the Italian for him to toe-poke a finish past Elliot. Newcastle have been dreadful at the back.
Newcastle win a corner on the right they take it short before Cabaye is let down by a return pass from Ben Arfa.
It looks like Liverpool are getting ready to bring on fit-again Borini, who has not played due to injury since February.
There are still 20 minutes left but Liverpool fans are singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone', which gives an indication of their comfort.
Corner to Newcastle on the left. Cabaye's inswinging delivery is not attacked by a team-mate and Enrique can clear low at the far post.
Sturridge ignores the chance to roll the ball across goal for a simple finish for Coutinho having broken into the box. Sturridge then loses the ball when attempting to get it back onto his left foot. That was greedy from Sturridge.
Sissoko has been the pick of a bad bunch of Newcastle players today. He cuts in from the left but his shot lets him down and Agger can block the ball.
Debuchy plays a pass to no-one and Liverpool can regain possession. That sums up Newcastle's performance.
Newcastle make their third and final change. Tiote is going off and Anita is coming on. Pardew ignores the option of Ameobi.
Newcastle really have been all over the place at the back today. They are badly missing the leadership of Coloccini and goalkeeper Krul.
Sturridge now his his eyes on a hat-trick and almost gets in behind the Newcastle defence but Yanga-Mbiwa just recovers at the bouncing ball.
There is now a very negative atmosphere. This is a major test of Pardew's managerial skills. Everything went right for him last season but it is now the opposite.
It is more dreadful defending from Newcastle and their fans are now flocking to the exits. Gerrard played Henderson through down the left as Debuchy miserably attempted to step up for offside. Henderson cut into the box and played in Sturridge, who, with Elliot having been taken out by the pass, can finish right-footed.
A Newcastle scarf has been thrown from the stands and into the home dugout, seemingly in protest at the state of affairs on the pitch.
A Haidara cross causes problems in the Liverpool box when Reina and Agger collide and miss the ball. But no Newcastle player is following up at the back post.
There are Newcastle fans around the ground with their heads in their hands. Unless there is an incredible turnaround, they are going to remain in very deep trouble at the bottom of the table.
Newcastle want a penalty when a Ben Arfa shot smashes into Lucas. You could argue Lucas had his arms up to block the ball but it was moving very quickly. It is that uncertain area in the rule book. No penalty is given.
That goal has undone Newcastle's good start to the second half. There is now a very flat atmosphere around St James' Park.
It is more brilliant play from Coutinho to set up the goal as he wins possession, runs forward, produces a clever stepover and then plays the ball to Sturridge. From inside the penalty area, Sturridge makes no mistake when firing into the roof of the net.
A terrible first touch from Cabaye lets Liverpool escape after Johnson had not properly cleared Sissoko's cross. Johnson is able to dart in an block on Cabaye just inside the penalty area.
Coutinho attempts an ambitious first-time volley on a dropping ball but misses his attempt and the ball bounces away off his standing leg. Newcastle's fans enjoyed that.
But Liverpool remain a threat on the break. Henderson goes past Haidara and squares the ball to Sturridge on the edge of the box. Cabaye manages to tackle the Liverpool striker, who was trying to get the ball onto his left foot.
Newcastle have already shown more attacking intent in the second half than almost all of the first. They know they need an early goal.
Sturridge is involved in a race with Yanga-Mbiwa, who is pulling back the Liverpool forward. But Sturridge then goes to ground belatedly and dramatically. There is no free-kick.

WE'RE BACK: Newcastle get the second half under way. Can they turn things around. Newcastle have made a double change. Ben Arfa and Gouffran have come on for Perch and Gutierrez.
Early goals from Agger and Henderson give Liverpool a comfortable half-time lead. It has been a bad-tempered half and Newcastle are booed off at the break. Replays show Tiote trod on Sturridge after the Liverpool forward had been floored by that Taylor foul.
Johnson is treading a thin line after bringing down Gutierrez wide on Newcastle's left. Perhaps the Liverpool full-back was a little unlucky given Gutierrez ran him to him.
Tiote and Johnson are involved in a tussle off the ball. Replays show Johnson is very lucky not to receive a second booking after grabbing hold of Tiote's leg after they tangled. Referee Marriner gives both players a lecture.
Agger is a little lucky when slicing a clearance from Sissoko's cross. But no Newcastle player is following up. Taylor goes in the book for a challenge which takes off Sturridge's boot.
Coutinho has been the best player on the pitch in the first half. He is relishing the central role he has been given in the absence of Suarez. He is providing Sturridge with great service.
Newcastle really have struggled to get any service to Cisse. He has been very isolated as the lone striker.
Cabaye is the next Newcastle player to go in the book after a late clip of the ankles on Henderson. Johnson is also shown a yellow card for an earlier challenge on Tiote.
Corner to Newcastle on the right after another challenge from Enrique on Sissoko. That has been a great tussle. Johnson heads the ball and Reina claims the ball under his own crossbar.
Gutierrez is booked for an intentional foul on Sturridge. The Newcastle player was sat on the floor and grabbed Sturridge's leg.
Perch attempts to make up for his miss with a crunching tackle on Lucas in a 50-50 for which neither player was pulling out. Lucas is still limping a little bit afterwards.
That Perch header was Newcastle's best chance of the game by a distance. But he was probably the last man on the field they wanted the opportunity to fall to.
What a miss! Haidara digs out a superb cross from the left after beating Downing. Perch meets the ball unmarked on the edge of the six-yard box but somehow heads wide.
Coutinho pops up on the left this time. But Tiote defends very well when tracking back to take the ball off Liverpool's star of the show so far.
Tiote lumps a long ball forward towards Cisse. But, as the striker competes for the pass with Johnson, he is again flagged offside.
Yet another corner for Liverpool. This time Gerrard drops it deep to the edge of the box. Downing lobs a cross back into the box and Sturridge volleys the ball back across goal. Newcastle survive and eventually win a free-kick.
Gerrard's first corner is headed clear at the near post but Liverpool keep the pressure on an win another set-piece. This time, Gerrard's corner is nodded away by Sissoko.
Jose Reina has had next to nothing to do in the Liverpool goal. He shows good footwork when dealing with a back-pass to thump it back up field. Liverpool win a corner.
Again Coutinho finds room. He is enjoying himself. He flicks a pass to Gerrard. But the Liverpool captain's 20-yard effort is sliced wide with his weaker left foot.
There is a real air of frustration around St James' Park as Cisse drifts offside when attempting to collect a long pass.
Liverpool are back on the attack and Coutinho almost threads in Gerrard. But Yanga-Mbiwa is covering and can then hold off Henderson before clearing. Good play by the Newcastle man.
Coutinho slips as he attempts to run the ball away from Liverpool's penalty area. Gutierrez picks up possession but shoots wildly away from Reina's goal.
Sections of the Newcastle fans are chanting the name of Ben Arfa. It will surely not be long before we see the forward if the game continues in this pattern.
Liverpool are continuing to find space behind Newcastle's midfield. Sturridge is given too much room and shoots from 20 yards but it is straight at Elliot.
Replays suggest Coutinho made a bit of a meal of Tiote's arm catching him. But Tiote does receive a lecture from referee Marriner. He will now be one more foul away from a booking.
Tiote is also running the risk of a booking. He has been involved in a few strong challenges and now Coutinho claims the Newcastle midfielder caught him with an arm.
Tempers are boiling over among the Newcastle team. Debuchy and Sturridge are booked after a bit of afters, with the latter not giving the ball to the Newcastle player after it had gone out of play. Debuchy and Sturridge then went head-to-head.
Pardew looks a worried man on the touchline. He is frantically waving his arms in an attempt to get orders to his players.
Newcastle respond by winning a corner after Enrique tackles Sissoko. But Talyro's header from the set-piece goes wide of the target.
It goes from bad to worse for Newcastle as a former Sunderland player scores. Coutinho played Sturridge through the middle with a wonderful pass. Sturridge then rolls a pass to give Henderson a simple finish. It is a lovely goal. Suarez who?
Newcastle are clearly a side who are short on self-belief. There is no fluidity to their passing and Liverpool are looking a threat on the break.
Debuchy darts down the right and goes shoulder-to-shoulder with Enrique. The referee's assistant gives a free-kick to Liverpool. Newcastle are angry about the decision.
Downing is not impressed with a strong challenge from behind by Haidara. The Newcastle full-back took the ball and then the man. Referee Marriner is four or five yards away and gives a free-kick.
Sissoko is finding himself over on the right-hand side for Newcastle and it is developing into a good battle of pace and power with Liverpool's former Newcastle left-back, Enrique.
Johnson is charging down the right whenever possible. He cuts inside before playing a pass to Sturridge. The striker is flagged offside and volleys over the crossbar anyway. Replays suggest Sturridge might have been onside.
Tiote shows excellent strength to shrug off Henderson in midfield before lobbing a long pass forwards towards Cisse. But Carragher is able to swing a leg at the ball and volley it clear.
Newcastle are giving Coutinho far too much space. He clips a pass forward for the attacking run of Agger but the Dane commits a foul in the penalty area to let Newcastle off the hook.
Sissoko sends a cross into the Liverpool box from the right but no Newcastle player attacks the ball and Reina can come off his line to claim the ball.
Coutinho is pulling the strings and he threads a pass through the middle, which sees Henderson beat the offside trap. But the ball has just too much pace and runs through to Elliot.
Coutinho is playing in the supporting role to Sturridge. The Brazilian is in a more central position than in previous games in his Liverpool career.
Pardew is not impressed. He is stood on the edge of his technical area with arms crossed. His team need to get going and clear their heads.
Liverpool have made a very good start to this game. They have picked up where they left off in the second half against Chelsea.
It is dreadful defending from Newcastle, who look very nervous. They fail to clear Downing's left-side corner and the wide-man can then loop a second cross into the box, where Agger is in acres after the Newcastle defence stepped out. The Dane is left with a simple header past Elliot.
Gerrard's corner does not find a team-mate but Liverpool remain on the attack and win another corner on the left.
A lovely pass from Coutinho releases Johnson down the right. His low cross to the near post almost gives Sturridge a tap in but Yanga-Mbiwa slides to give away a corner.
Cabaye gets to the byline down the right after Elliot hits a long free-kick into Liverpool territory. Cabaye's cross has to be headed clear by Agger.
Here is a round-up of all the team news before kick-off. Sturridge is asked to plug the gap left by Suarez as Liverpool looked to end a difficult week with victory at Newcastle. Sturridge's inclusion is the only change to the side who fought back to draw 2-2 with Chelsea last weekend. Newcastle boss Pardew keeps faith with the bulk of the team who drew 1-1 at West Brom on Saturday, with Cheick Tiote returning from a hamstring injury in place of Yoan Gouffran.
Captains Cabaye and Gerrard lead Newcastle and Liverpool, respectively, out on the pitch on a sunny evening at St James' Park.
Thanks for all your emails and tweets so far this evening. Sorry I have not been able to publish them all but keep them coming at firstname.lastname@example.org or via Twitter @SkySportsPeteF. Kick-off is just five minutes away. Can Newcastle get a vital win in their bid for safety? Can Liverpool respond to the absence of Suarez?
Liverpool have drawn their last three Premier League games; they have not drawn four in a row since December 2008. Newcastle had won four successive home games before a defeat to rivals Sunderland in their last game at St James Park (0-3).
Newcastle boss Pardew fears the absence of Suarez could act as a motivating factor for Liverpool today. He has just said in his pre-match television interview: 'As a team-mate, when you get something like that, it bonds you together. Liverpool will be in the mood to get a result to say, 'that was for Luis'. We have got to stop that today.'
Iain Mcintoish says: 'I anticipate the absence of Luis will galvanise the LFC team to turn in a performance of solidarity. Score: 0-2 to Liverpool.'
Jonathan Comyn says: 'No Suarez, Liverpool play with one man upfront, and we are playing with three holding midfielders. Newcastle tactically inept again.'
After today's results, Newcastle are just five points clear of the relegation zone in the Premier League. A win today is therefore vital. Can they get what they need?
David Smith says: 'A hard game today, even harder now without Suarez. Going to be very interesting to see Liverpool play without him and see some of our new and old players step up. I'd still take Liverpool to win 2-1 and Steve G on the score sheet.'
Newcastle fan Ben says: 'With Suarez out, this is our lifeline so let's use it. Don't think it will be a classic 4-3 but a late 1-0 with Ben Arfa being the hero.'
This is the first game of Luis Suarez's 10-match ban for Liverpool after being found guilty of violent conduct. Can Brendan Rodgers' visitors respond with a win or will Alan Pardew's Newcastle get an important victory at the wrong end of the table?
