Macclesfield are still looking for a first Sky Bet League Two win after Jamille Matt's equaliser in the seventh minute of stoppage time secured Newport a 3-3 draw.
Matt headed home at the back post late in added time to seal a point for the high-flying Exiles and break Town hearts.
David Fitzpatrick's penalty in the 82nd minute looked like it had won the game for the Silkmen after referee Trevor Kettle judged Mickey Demetriou to have handled Fiacre Kelleher's header.
But Matt saved the day for the home side with referee Kettle at the centre of the drama.
The visitors were thrashed 8-0 by West Ham in the Carabao Cup last week and have struggled since Mark Yates took charge this summer but Kelleher's header and Fitzpatrick's first penalty of the night after Dan Butler felled Tyrone Marsh gave them a 2-0 lead.
Newport pulled one back when Butler smashed home a short corner routine and Demetriou levelled with a spot kick of his own in the second half.
Fitzpatrick's second cool penalty sent an angry Rodney Parade crowd into meltdown, but Newport pushed hard for an equaliser late on and after Demetriou crashed a header off the bar, Matt broke Macclesfield hearts.
