The Football Association board will meet on Thursday to discuss the Premier League's plans for an 'international round' of fixtures.
Premier League chairman Sir Dave Richards is due to present the proposal for each top-flight club to play an additional fixture in a foreign city from the 2010/11 season.
The proposal has already been criticised by a number of managers, while Fifa president Sepp Blatter has voiced his opposition.
FA chairman Lord Triesman has also outlined his concerns, questioning the potential harm the plans may have on England's 2018 World Cup bid, fixture congestion and the impact on the fortunes of the national team.

Manchester United chief executive David Gill is expected to outline his club's opposition to the plans, however
Sky Sports News understands that Chelsea are keen for the idea to go ahead.
It is thought that Football League chairman Lord Mawhinney will argue that the plans deserve more time for development.
Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore conceded on Tuesday for the first time that the plans will have to be reviewed if they fail to gain approval from Fifa.
Scudamore will fly to Zurich next week in a bid to persuade Blatter of the benefits of the plan ahead of the Fifa executive committee meeting on 14th March.

Birmingham chairman David Gold believes many critics have been too hasty to dismiss the scheme.
He told
Sky Sports News: "What we should be doing is focusing on the issues, whether this is exciting. I actually think that it is.
"I can see many aspects of this whole idea being attractive to fans who watch the game on television, and attractive to fans who will be saying: 'I'm going to watch my team because I can afford it'.
"Others will be saying: 'I can't afford it, but I can build my holiday around that week where my team is in Los Angeles or some exotic location'.
"I just think we should be looking at the positive side and not just dwelling on the negatives and give this a chance."
