Bury could be set for an awards double after the September nominations were announced for the Sky Bet League 1 Manager and Player of the Month.

Shakers boss Dave Flitcroft heads the managerial nominees after he oversaw a perfect month at Gigg Lane with his team securing five successive victories, including from tough trips to Sheffield United, Walsall and Peterborough.

Bury striker Leon Clarke, 30, is up the players' award after scoring four goals in five games during that run to lift his into the play-off places.

Burton's Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is another candidate for the managers' award after leading the Brewers to the top of League 1 for the first time in the club's 65-year history with 10 points from five games during September.

Southend's Phil Brown, whose side claimed four wins from five matches, and Tony Humes of Colchester, who saw his team pick up 13 points from five games, scoring 12 goals in the process, are also in the running for the managers' gong.

Colchester also have the chance of a double as their goalkeeper Jamie Jones is a candidate for the players' award after saving two penalties against Sheffield United and Gillingham.

Walsall striker Tom Bradshaw, who scored three goals during the month as well as impressing Jose Mourinho, and Rochdale midfielder Peter Vincenti, who netted in four separate matches, are also in the running for the players' award.
