Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger requires "two or three days rest" to recover from a thigh injury, according to Germany boss Joachim Low.

The 31-year-old Schweinsteiger suffered the problem in training with the Germany squad this week and missed their 1-0 defeat to Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Thursday.

Germany need to beat Georgia on Sunday to ensure safe passage through to the Euro 2016 finals in France but Low says Schweinsteiger is not certain to feature in their final qualifier either.

"For Schweinsteiger I will need to see. The medical staff said two or three days rest," Low said.

Forward Mario Gotze also limped off injured in the game at the Aviva Stadium, where a late Shane Long goal sealed three points for the hosts, and Low confirmed he will miss their final Group D fixture in Gilsenkirchen.

"There is no way that Mario will be there," Low said.
