Hull City central defender Michael Dawson is facing five to six weeks on the sidelines.

The 32-year-old suffered a knee injury during Saturday's 1-0 victory over Bolton, limping off in the 85th minute, and scans have revealed he has a grade two tear of his medial ligament.

Dawson is now set to miss Sky Bet Championship fixtures against Reading, Rotherham, Burnley, Preston and QPR over the busy festive period as well as the FA Cup third-round clash with Brighton on January 9.

The home games against Cardiff on January 12 and Charlton on January 16 could then be targets for the centre-back to make his return to action.

Tigers manager Steve Bruce told his club's official website: "For him to come off feeling his knee in the way he was - we were expecting it to be at least a month.
