Bristol Rovers have signed former Barnsley and Plymouth striker Rory Fallon on non-contract terms.

The 33-year-old had been training with the Pirates for a month and will now travel with Darrell Clarke's squad ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet League 2 game at Accrington.

Rovers boss Clarke told his club's official website: "He's a very experienced footballer and someone who I would call an old-fashioned striker.

"He will give us different options during games, especially when I want to change formations or personnel and he adds further competition to my squad."

The New Zealand international, who has missed almost a year of action due to a cruciate ligament injury, said: "I've had a great reception from the lads here and appreciate the fact that the gaffer has let me train here as it's not always easy to find a club willing to let you do that.

"I'm really chomping at the bit and looking forward to going to Accrington this weekend. Whether I'm in the stand or on the bench or playing it doesn't matter I'm just happy to be a part of it and can't wait."
