Southend midfielder Ryan Leonard has been ruled out for up to three months due to a knee injury.
The 23-year-old was forced off during Saturday's home win against Colchester after sustaining medial ligament damage in a challenge from Alex Gilbey, who was shown a straight red card.
Leonard, a regular starter for Phil Brown's side in Sky Bet League 1 this season, will be sidelined until at least mid-April after scans revealed the full extent of the damage.
