Moussa Sissoko has backed Rafa Benitez to steer Newcastle out of the relegation zone and secure their Premier League status for next season.

The Magpies travel to fellow-strugglers Norwich on Saturday three points behind their hosts and top-flight safety, albeit with a game in hand over Alex Neil's side.

Benitez has yet to win since taking over at St James' Park, losing 1-0 at leaders Leicester before rescuing a last-gasp 1-1 draw with rivals Sunderland before the international break.

But Sissoko is confident there are enough good players to ensure Newcastle escape the drop and says their trip to Norfolk represents "a final" for the club.

"We are a really good team. We need to show it on the pitch so we have a massive game against Norwich away," he told Sky Sports News HQ.

"It's a final for us, so we will go there and give it everything and hopefully come back with three points.

"We all know he [Benitez] is a good manager. He has a lot of experience with a lot of teams. He came here to help us stay in the Premier League and I am confident we will do it and we will start on Saturday."

Benitez himself believes only small changes are required to turn the club's fortunes around this season.

"Why is the club where we are at the moment? From outside you will have plenty of reasons why, from inside? You can see that we have to change little things," he said.

"But the positive thing for me is... it's not difficult. You know two or three things will improve everything, and it is not difficult. I am sure that if we do this we will be fine."
