Marc Albrighton says the pressure of trying to win the Premier League pales in comparison to last season’s fight to stave off the threat of relegation.

Leicester's transformation from virtual relegation certainties to champions-elect is the story of the past 12 months. A year ago the Foxes were seven points adrift of safety at the bottom of the table but after Sunday's 1-0 win over Southampton, Leicester find themselves seven points clear of nearest rivals Tottenham at the summit.

And Albrighton, who joined Leicester as a free agent after he was released by Aston Villa in 2014, says the team will continue doing what they have done all season as they bid to become Premier League champions for the first time in their history.

"Last season was totally different, we did feel a lot more pressure last season," Albrighton said.

"This season we don't really feel any pressure, I can't see that there's any on us.

"We're in a position where no one was expecting us to be so no matter where we finish now - and don't get me wrong, if we don't go on now and achieve something it's going to be disappointing - but even the lowest position we could finish if we lost all our remaining games would still be a massive achievement and fantastic for us.

"Of course we're aiming for the top and if we can achieve that then fantastic.

"We'll just continue to do everything that has got us here. I think if we keep doing that we won't go too far wrong. It's got us in a great position and if we continue to do that and take each game as it comes then, as I say, we won't go too far wrong."
