Manuel Pellegrini is confident Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany can finally put his injury problems behind him.
Kompany has not played since March 15 after suffering a recurrence of a calf injury, which has dogged him throughout the campaign.
It is also the latest in a long line of injury problems the Belgium international centre-back has suffered since joining City from Hamburg in 2008.
Kompany is set to make his return to action at Newcastle on Tuesday - live on Sky Sports 1 HD from 7pm - and Pellegrini believes the City skipper has the mental strength to ensure he is not affected by his previous setbacks.
"He is a very strong player mentally so seeing him working... I think he is without any problems and he is working 100 percent with normality," Pellegrini said.
"So I don't think he has any mind problems and I hope that we will see him returning to his best performances."
Pellegrini also said he had no fears about Kompany being able to handle City's busy schedule, with a Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid to come later this month.
"I think he's able to play two games a week... Maybe he must review a lot of things, as other players do, to try to have less injuries," he added.
"But when he's fit, I think he can play two or three games a week without a problem."
