Middlesbrough have released Jonathan Woodgate after four seasons of a second spell at the club.
Woodgate, who made a total of 112 appearances for his hometown club, was initially released in the summer of 2015 before returning on a one-year deal. However, he was restricted to just one appearance in the last campaign which came against Burton Albion in the Capital One Cup.
The 36-year-old is now out of contract, with Boro officially confirming he will not be a part of manager Aitor Karanka's side next season.
The defender, who has also played for Real Madrid, Newcastle and Leeds, joins a three-man list of senior players out of contract and set to leave Boro, including Damia Abella and Rhys Williams.
Injury completely wiped out Damia's season, with the Spaniard battling to recover from a serious leg break back in September 2014. The 34-year-old made seven appearances in total, following his arrival two summers ago from Osasuna.
Meanwhile, Williams is set to return to his home country Australia and play for Perth Glory. The midfielder has been with the Sky Bet Championship club since 2005 but his time in England has been plagued by injury, having made only 141 starts in that time.
Three youth players have also been released as goalkeeper Luke Coddington, Jordan Jones and Andre Bennett are to depart.
