Leicester midfielder Andy King believes Wales can replicate his club side and secure victory against the odds at the European Championships this summer.

King was part of the Foxes squad that secured the Premier League title earlier this year, despite being 5000-1 outsiders at the start of the season.

Wales are 80-1 favourites to win the Euros this summer but King insists that Chris Coleman's side have a real chance of lifting silverware in France.

"We've got to win six or seven games compared to 38," said King, who also backed Gareth Bale to impress at the tournament.

"80-1 against 5000-1. You know which one you would rather back. We are a talented group and I believe we have the best player in the tournament.

"Gareth is probably the best player in the tournament in many people's opinion, so why can't we go there and do something? We are confident we can do that."

Wales face Sweden in a final warm-up friendly in Stockholm on June 5 before kicking-off their Euro 2016 campaign against Slovakia in Bordeaux on June 11.

King, who was born in England but qualifies for Wales through his grandfather, was pleased to have avoided Roy Hodgson's side in the opening round of fixtures.

"I don't think we wanted to play England first," he said.

"There would have been a lot of hype on that game, and when it had finished there might have been a feeling that we are not really fussed about the rest of the tournament.

"Not from the players' point of view obviously, but from an outside perspective. But we can really focus on Slovakia before that massive showcase game with England. Then we can see where we are before facing Russia.

"Everyone was pleased with the way the draw came out, and usually a win and draw is enough to get you through."

King recently joined up the rest of the Welsh squad at a training camp after arriving from Thailand, where he had been showing off the Premier League trophy as part of Leicester's title celebrations.

"We thought the open-top bus in Leicester was carnage, but they probably times that by five," said King.

"There were people hanging from lamp posts and bridges in Bangkok and it was a nice moment for the owners to go through their home city and see the amount of people with Leicester stuff on.

Premier League champions Leicester City arrive in Thailand for their end of season tour to a heroes welcome

"We were throwing stuff off the bus and it was proper Leicester fever. We took the trophy to temples, to the grand palace - I don't know if we felt like pop stars but everyone knows about Leicester City now.

"I was talking to a woman here and she said she didn't know anything about football. But when she asked me who I played for and I said 'Leicester' she knew all about the story behind it.

"It's been a dream season, but ask me again in six weeks and I hope I will give you an even better answer."
