Fenerbahce have confirmed the £5m signing of Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel.

The 31-year-old ends an eight-and-half year spell with the Merseysiders after falling down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp last season.

The centre-back will be unveiled officially as a Fenerbahce player on Friday in a press conference after he passed a medical on Wednesday with the club announcing his arrival on their website.

The emergence of the partnership between Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho kept Skrtel out of the starting eleven for much of the second half of the season, with the defender making just 28 appearances in all competitions last campaign.
