Rickie Lambert has joined Cardiff City from West Bromwich Albion on a two-year deal.

The much-travelled 34-year-old striker moves to the Sky Bet Championship club for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.

The Merseyside-born player made his name at Southampton, making more than 200 appearances for the south coast club during almost five years at St Mary's.

He then moved to Liverpool before heading off on a £3m deal to the Hawthorns where he spent all of last season.

He has collected 11 England caps and was a member of their squad during the 2014 World Cup. He now heads to south Wales where the club confirmed he will wear the No 19 jersey this season.

He told the club's website: "I am very excited to be here. The sooner I can get on the score-sheet and start helping my new club, the better."
