Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino went to visit Ryan Mason in hospital after his press conference on Thursday afternoon.
Mason was treated on the pitch for nearly ten minutes after fracturing his skull during a clash of heads with Gary Cahill in Hull's 2-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The 25-year-old, who played under Pochettino at Tottenham before moving to Hull, remains in St Mary's Hospital in London after undergoing surgery on Sunday night.
The Spurs manager said he had been in contact with Mason's family and the Spurs squad sent him a video message from their training camp in Barcelona earlier this week.
"The action was very hard and very difficult," Pochettino said. "The good thing now is that he is recovering well and making a lot of progress.
"We will go after the press conference to visit him and to see how he is doing. The squad sent a special video message from Barcelona to him. He is a special player for us and for me personally.
"He grew up here at Tottenham - he is a person that we love. I am in contact with his family and I know he is making some progress. He is much better and has worked a little bit. It is important to know how he is and share some time with him. It will be fantastic for him and for us."
Mason was visited on Sunday evening by Cahill - who played on and scored after the incident - as well as Chelsea captain John Terry and assistant manager Steve Holland.
A delegation from Hull, including captain Michael Dawson, have also visited Mason, while manager Marco Silva confirmed that he will visit on Saturday.
Hull have asked fans to applaud during the 25th minute - Mason wears the No 25 - of tonight's EFL Cup semi-final second leg against Manchester United.
