Nottingham Forest sign Ross McCormack on loan from Aston Villa

Nottingham Forest have signed Ross McCormack on loan from Aston Villa until the end of the season.

The two clubs had been negotiating over who would take on the greatest proportion of McCormack's "significant" wages, and it looked like no agreement was in sight.

However, Forest came back with a fresh offer, with an increased loan fee, and negotiations re-started.

McCormack has had a strained relationship with manager Steve Bruce and was sanctioned by Villa for missing several training sessions a fortnight ago.

On one occasion, the forward used the excuse that his electric gates at his home would not open, prompting Bruce to go to McCormack's home to see the gates for himself, and the Villa boss was furious the striker had used that as a reason to skip training.
