Motherwell have signed winger Elliot Frear from Forest Green this month as well as adding Reading defender Zak Jules and Everton goalkeeper Russell Griffiths on loan.

Manager Mark McGhee told Sky Sports News HQ: "Faddy [assistant manager James McFadden] had been talking to him, and I think he talked him into it a wee bit!

"He's different from the others, he's got a goal in him so we're glad to have him back.

"With Las [Keith Lasley], Carl McHugh, Ali Campbell - we have a lot of those who are all more sitting midfield players, whereas (Craig) Clay is someone who will run forward, but we've been asking him to play somewhere on the left where Pearson plays, so now with Pearson here hopefully we can get the best out of Clay as well; we have a lot of options in there."

Pearson told Sky Sports News HQ: "Everyone knows the affiliation I have with the club. It is a good place to come and work so it ticked all the boxes for me and hopefully it suits Motherwell in the short term.

"I am just looking forward to helping the team out, contribute as much as I can between now and the end of the season and help this club finish as high up the league as possible."
