Watch Reading's Yann Kermorgant discuss his failed Panenka attempt for Leicester against Cardiff in 2010 - and happier moments too!

Yann Kermorgant has the chance to earn personal redemption at Monday's play-off final, seven years after missing a crucial penalty in embarrassing fashion.

The 35-year-old is famous for all the wrong reasons among Leicester supporters after his embarrassing miss in the play-off semi-final second leg defeat by Cardiff in 2010, chipping the ball into David Marshall's hands in a shoot-out with a Panenka-style penalty.

He didn't play for Leicester again following the miss, but tried the cheeky chip again for Reading on Boxing Day in their 3-1 win over Norwich, hitting the bar before Gareth McCleary scored on the rebound.

The Frenchman, whose penalty for Reading in the play-off semi-final against Fulham a fortnight ago sent the Royals to Wembley for their showdown against Huddersfield, says he is still reminded about his missed Panenka.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Kermorgant said when asked if he still thinks about the miss: "Yeah, I think I will always think about it. When I get a penalty I will always do my best to score. I know everybody is still talking about the pen.

"In the programme, when we play away, they remind that I was the guy who missed the pen in the play-off semi-final. But I wasn't the only one.

"I've changed of course because I'm quite older, so I have more experience and I know myself a bit better. I have got more confidence as well, that was my first season in England, in a new country and new championship, and of course I did not have the confidence I have now, so it's easier now to cope with the pressure."

Kermorgant had Garath McCleary to thank on Boxing Day after his team-mate scored the rebound from his woeful attempt of a Panenka penalty

"I never plan anything like that, when you do it, it is instinct. You think if it's the best way to score at that moment, and that was the case when I tried to chip it with Leicester.

"But as I said, the penalty is never easy, there is lots of pressure, and we don't really care how you take the pen, as long as you score.

"I decided to shoot like that. I never set out to shoot a certain way before, I just wait to take the penalty and will take a decision just before to go for it."
